Job description
UBDS group is seeking a highly experienced Service Architect to work across key government client accounts, taking responsibility for defining, governing and sustaining high-quality, authoritative service models. The role will focus on the design and implementation of Common Service Data Model (CSDM)-aligned service structures, ensuring alignment with Enterprise Architecture (EA) principles and client-specific governance standards.
Working within a federated operating model, the Service Architect will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to establish robust Configuration Management Database (CMDB) practices, service mapping capabilities, and dependency models. The role also emphasises embedding data quality assurance, governance controls and agile delivery practices to ensure service data remains accurate, reliable and fit for purpose., * Design and implement service models aligned to the Common Service Data Model (CSDM), ensuring consistency and scalability across the organisation.
- Establish and maintain Configuration Management Database (CMDB) governance frameworks, including policies, standards and controls.
- Lead service mapping initiatives, defining end-to-end service relationships and dependencies across business and technology layers.
- Ensure alignment of service models with Enterprise Architecture (EA) standards and strategic roadmaps.
- Engage effectively with stakeholders across a federated operating model, influencing adoption of service modelling best practice.
- Define and implement data quality assurance processes to ensure accuracy, completeness and integrity of service and configuration data.
- Apply governance controls to manage and sustain authoritative data sources within the CMDB and associated systems.
- Support agile delivery teams by embedding service modelling practices within iterative development cycles.
- Validate and continuously improve service models through regular reviews, audits and stakeholder feedback.

Requirements
- Proven experience in a Service Architect or similar role within complex, enterprise-scale environments.
- Demonstrable expertise in Common Service Data Model (CSDM)-aligned service modelling.
- Strong background in Configuration Management Database (CMDB) design, governance and administration.
- Experience delivering service mapping and dependency modelling across integrated technology landscapes.
- Experience working within federated operating models and influencing diverse stakeholder groups.
- Track record of implementing data quality frameworks and governance controls.
- Experience working within agile delivery environments.
Technical Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of service modelling frameworks and best practice.
- Strong understanding of Enterprise Architecture (EA) principles and integration with service models.
- Expertise in CMDB platforms (e.g. ServiceNow or equivalent).
- Knowledge of data governance, data quality management and control frameworks.
- Ability to design and interpret complex service dependency models.
Certifications (Desirable):
- ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) certification, preferably ITIL 4.
- ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) or equivalent.
- TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework) or other Enterprise Architecture certification.
- SC Clearance is preferred
