Job description
The School of Business at Shenandoah University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Information Systems Technology (IST) beginning August 2026. This is a full-time faculty appointment eligible for multi-year career contract status following a successful probationary period. We seek a dynamic educator-scholar who can contribute to our programs in Information Systems within an AACSB-accredited School of Business. This position is located on our main campus in Winchester, Virginia.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses across core areas of Information Systems & Technology, including business information systems, emerging technologies and computer applications.
The preferred candidate will have the ability to teach in other desirable areas such as database systems and business-related cybersecurity.
Interdisciplinary & Applied Technology Collaboration
Shenandoah University also offers technology-oriented programs within its Division of Applied Technology. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability and willingness to collaborate across academic units where appropriate, potentially contributing to shared initiatives, curriculum alignment, or industry partnerships in areas such as networking, applied IT, or cybersecurity workforce preparation.
Candidates who bring industry experience, professional certifications (e.g., CISSP, Security+, CEH, CCNA, AWS, etc.), or demonstrated experience bridging academic and applied technology environments are especially encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
- Teach a standard course load (typically three courses per semester) Contribute to curriculum development and assessment
- Maintain an active scholarly agenda consistent with AACSB standards
- Participate in service to the department, school, and university
Requirements
Required:
- Earned doctorate in Information Systems or a closely related field (ABD considered with completion prior to start date).
- Demonstrated ability to teach courses in a business-focused information systems environment
- Commitment to excellence in teaching and student engagement.
- Evidence of scholarly activity and/or professional engagement consistent with AACSB accreditation standards.
Preferred:
- Expertise in cybersecurity sufficient to support and expand a cybersecurity concentration.
- Experience contributing to interdisciplinary or applied technology programs., **Authorized to work in the United States is a pre-condition of employment. At this time, Shenandoah University is not in a position to sponsor international visas.
