Job description
The Analytics & Data Manager provides technical and strategic leadership for the organization's analytics, reporting, and data systems. This is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on analytics architecture, systems design, and procedural clarity.
This role strengthens the organization's analytics function by reducing reliance on ad hoc solutions, improving reliability and continuity, and enabling analytics staff to deliver consistent, meaningful insights. It ensures that data used for program monitoring, decision-making, and external reporting is well-structured, reliable, documented, and scalable.
What You'll Do
- Define and maintain relational data models that support recurring reporting, analysis, and program monitoring needs
- Provide technical direction on how data is extracted, transformed, stored, and surfaced for reporting and analysis
- Assess existing ETL processes for technical debt and recommend prioritized improvements based on risk and impact
- Ensure recurring internal and external reports are produced accurately and on schedule, including resolving upstream data issues
- Identify fragile, manual, or undocumented analytics processes and replace them with repeatable, documented workflows
- Create and maintain technical documentation for data sources, transformations, reporting logic, and dependencies
- Support analysts in scoping and sequencing work by clarifying requirements, dependencies, and tradeoffs
- Communicate data limitations, assumptions, and risks clearly to non-technical stakeholders
- Translate program and leadership questions into technically feasible analytics approaches
- Contribute directly to high-impact or high-risk analytics work during reporting or grant proposal periods
- Support analytics continuity during audits, system migrations, platform changes, or staff transitions
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline - or equivalent practical experience
- Proficiency in MS Office and strong experience with SQL and relational database management systems
- Experience designing, maintaining, or improving analytics systems or reporting workflows
- Demonstrated ability to document technical processes and establish standards
- Experience providing technical guidance, review, or mentorship to analysts
- Comfort working in environments with changing requirements and imperfect data
Desired but not required:
- Experience in nonprofit, government, healthcare, or other compliance-oriented environments
- Familiarity with Salesforce, Tableau, ArcGIS Pro, or ArcGIS Online
- Experience supporting audit readiness, governance, or quality assurance initiatives
Who Would Be Successful in This Role
The ideal candidate is comfortable operating in environments where analytics systems are growing and formal processes are still being established. They enjoy bringing structure to complexity and balancing hands-on technical work with mentorship and guidance. If you're motivated by long-term reliability, clarity, and impact - and you value documentation and repeatable processes as tools for sustainability - we'd love to hear from you.
