Collins Aerospace's Strategic Solutions team is looking for an exceptionally motivated engineer that is passionate about collaborating with high-performance teams to create mission critical solutions supporting Mission Systems.
Our Senior Software Engineers work in an exciting, adaptive, and engaging environment enabling rapid learning to drive success. Our senior software engineers utilize a variety of skills on a regular basis including requirements analysis, synthesis of new and existing architectures, development and delivery of high-quality mission critical software. This position will support the shaping of the future of defense systems for the armed forces. This position is located onsite in Cedar Rapids, IA.
What You Will Do:
- You will be an important part of a high-performing software team, collaborating with fellow Software engineers, Scrum Masters, Product owners, Software Architects and other teams, support requirements decomposition and derivation to produce Software Requirements, responsible for producing high quality mission critical software.
- You will have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers/interns, be responsible for providing direct support to stakeholders, answering questions and solving technical issues.
- Lead and participate in code and related artifacts peer reviews.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience with Object Oriented Development using Java with the ability to create complex software designs based on customer's requirements.
- 3+ years of experience with development tool sets, including Jira, Git, Visual Studio Code.
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance.
- Experience with requirements analysis, requirements decomposition and derivation, UML, SysML, MBSE and CAMEO Modeling tools, virtualization, pub/subs bus such as ActiveMQ, DDS, implementing Graphical User Interfaces with Java frameworks, such as Swing or JavaFx.
- Agile SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle), Software Development for DoD contracts
- Knowledge of microservices, containers and orchestrators, OMS, DevSecOps and CI/CD.

- And more!, The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
