Job description
The Red Hat OpenShift team is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join us. In this role you will develop tools as well as contribute fixes to upstream projects and OpenShift itself, all for the purpose of ensuring we have a reliable signal from our test infrastructure. You'll analyze data to inform your priorities and help others in our larger product team to understand how they can provide the highest quality releases to our customers. As a Principal Software Engineer, you will be a part of a distributed team and work both on your own and in tight collaboration and regular communication with other team members and upstream developers.
Qualified engineers will be considered from any location where Red Hat has an entity and the ability to hire.
What You Will Do
- Develop features in open source projects that help us get the most value from OpenShift and Kubernetes automated testing.
- Develop tools to make it easier for our larger product team to adopt processes that improve product quality.
- Analyze data from our bug tracking and continuous integration infrastructure to create a roadmap for improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Demonstrable experience in debugging during critical situations, independent ownership of design-to-delivery for features
- Experience working in the upstream and familiarity with upstream development practices
- Experience using programming languages like Go or Python
Nice to Have:
- Experience with the challenges of maintaining code quality on a product or project with hundreds of contributors
- Contributing to the Kubernetes community in any way
- Running applications on OpenShift
- Telling stories with data

Annual salary is one component of Red Hat's compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity.
