Job description

Join a mission-critical team within WMATA's Digital Modernization - Service Delivery and Operations organization, where your expertise in Mobile Device Management directly supports frontline operations and enterprise connectivity. As an MDM Administrator, you will lead the secure provisioning, management, and optimization of thousands of mobile devices using platforms such as MaaS360 and Microsoft Intune. You will also support carrier partnerships and business agreements (e.g., Verizon, AT&T) to deliver cost-effective, scalable mobility solutions. This role offers the opportunity to influence strategic initiatives, manage vendor relationships, and play a key role in modernizing enterprise mobility services in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment., This highly technical position is responsible for the design, integration, management and administration of enterprise mobile devices in a Microsoft Active Directory-based, 24x7x365 enterprise environment. The incumbent plays a vital role in the system configuration management, maintenance and expansion of the mobile device network infrastructure and has a direct role in all aspects of supporting users, servers, and network infrastructure. The incumbent establishes performance standards, develops policies and procedures, and enforces security protocols; maintains in-depth knowledge of mobile devices and mobile device management technologies; keeps WMATA abreast of latest trends in mobile device technologies. WMATA enterprise mobile devices include: smartphones, tablet computers and other mobile technology tools that are primarily used outside of the office and are often used to connect to the organization's wide area network (WAN). This work is provided for the Department of Information Technology's Office of Data Center and Infrastructure.

  • Performs a full spectrum of duties to enable and support enterprise mobile devices in a large-scale and complex Microsoft Active Directory-based environment.
  • Designs, integrates, manages, troubleshoots and administers mobile devices, mobile device applications and mobile device infrastructure.
  • Maintains configuration management systems for desktop computers and servers.
  • Ensures security of mobile devices. Maintains device and software inventory and ensures licensing compliance.
  • Works with Tier 1 and Tier 2 Help Desk support staff.
  • Analyzes, isolates and resolves customer issues.
  • Performs proactive monitoring, configuration management and fault resolution.
  • Directs interaction with customers on support issues.
  • Escalates issues to immediate management.
  • Maintains workloads, detailing each case with notes of steps taken.
  • Performs any other delegated duties considered appropriate in order to maintain the efficient operation of the department.
  • Develops written policies and procedures for managing device configuration, using WMATA's enterprise configuration management, operation management and mobile device management technologies.
  • Provides 24/7 on-call support as needed.
  • Supports server hardware installation and configuration.
  • Applies configuration management and operations management technologies towards mobile platform.
  • Configures and manages network resources to ensure access to desktop devices as well as other devices, including smartphones and tablets.
  • Provides recommendations for technology infusion and mobile device management technology upgrades.
  • Assists team members with a variety of technologies.
  • Participates in daily operations and acts as a backup for peer technical staff.
  • Implements new technologies to maintain and improve the existing mobile device infrastructure.
  • Documents the enterprise mobile device environment and develops related documents as needed.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in a Computer Science or a related field. Three (3) years of current experience in enterprise mobile device management; and a minimum three (3) years of hands-on experience with desktop and server configuration management tools and enterprise server administration. Experience with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) technologies. Must be familiar with the latest mobile devices.

Or, an equivalent combination of education in Computer Science or a related field. Four (4) years of current experience in enterprise mobile device management; and a minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience with desktop and server configuration management tools and enterprise server administration. Experience with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) technologies. Must be familiar with the latest mobile devices.

License: IT certifications are desirable, e.g., MCSE, CCNA, IBM Certified Systems Expert.
