Job description
We are looking for a motivated and talented experienced Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to own the design and implementation of the quality assurance process, ensuring the delivery of high quality software products in a distributed environment. In this role, you will drive quality and quality-related development work in all team projects. You will work alongside the software development and SRE teams to acquire in-depth knowledge of how each application works in terms of business logic, security aspects, development environments, and production environments. You will design, implement and maintain automation roadmap for complex services, while also driving advancements in test strategies.
Requirements
Strong software engineering background in web services and proficiency in programming language.
Proficient in Java and C; capable of writing and maintaining QE tools in C, Bash, Python, or Java
Solid grasp of REST API fundamentals, best practices, and API testing concepts
Ability to read and critique software architecture/designs to increase testability and maintainability
Hands on with database technologies including relational and noSQL solutions
Strong grasp of the unique concepts required in security applications and embedded systems.
Understanding of security concepts such as PKI, X.509, ASN.1, key exchange protocols, and authentication protocols
Skilled in Unix/Linux environments
Strong quality engineering mentality and understanding of the relevant concepts.
Experience in designing and developing test automation frameworks for embedded systems and cryptographic components, including unit, integration, and system-level testing
Experience in designing and developing test automation using TestNG, JMeter or equivalent
Strong debugging, root cause analysis, and problem-solving skills across hardware and software layers
Solid understanding of QE methodologies, SDLC best practices, and CI/CD concepts to build automation for complex full stack applications
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and an effective communicator with strong written and verbal English skills
Proven ability to manage time and priorities across concurrent release cycles
Preferred Qualifications
Up-to-date with current and up-coming QE technologies and frameworks
Experience contributing to or reviewing threat models and security test plans
Understanding of FIPS 140-2/3 standards and cryptographic module validation testing
Experience with performance and scalability testing
Passion for driving quality into every aspect of a project
Ability to work with cross functional and globally distributed teams
Familiar with Agile workflow management
BS in Computer Science or equivalent
6+ years of experience in relevant fields

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $181,100 and $272,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
