Job description
Northrop Grumman is seeking a Software Engineer to support software design, development, and integration efforts. The selected candidate will participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of software applications supporting mission and operational systems. This position will be on-site in Promontory, Utah.
The engineer will work independently and within a collaborative team environment to develop innovative technical solutions to complex problems while supporting system performance, reliability, and maintainability.
Responsibilities include:
- Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Analyze system and operational requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Support planning, development, and deployment of software applications and system updates.
- Utilize programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, C#, SQL, Python, Angular, .NET, or related technologies.
- Support software integration, debugging, and testing activities.
- Document software design, testing procedures, and system maintenance activities.
- Participate in software working groups and technical discussions with internal teams and customers.
- Support hardware and software configuration and user assistance when required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) with 2 years of experience; or a Master's degree in a STEM discipline with 0 years of experience.
- Experience with software development using object-oriented programming languages such as Java, C++, C#, JavaScript, or Python.
- Experience with the software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, and maintenance.
- Experience with object-oriented architectures, programming, debugging, and software integration.
- Experience working in Agile software development environments.
- Experience working with Windows, Linux, or enterprise application environments.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
Level 3
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) with 5 years of experience; or a Master's degree in a STEM discipline with 3 years of experience.
- Experience with software development using object-oriented programming languages such as Java, C++, C#, JavaScript, or Python.
- Experience with the software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, and maintenance.
- Experience with object-oriented architectures, programming, debugging, and software integration.
- Experience working in Agile software development environments.
- Experience working with Windows, Linux, or enterprise application environments.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance., * Experience working in multi-disciplinary engineering teams and participating in technical discussions.
- Experience with configuration management tools such as Git, GitHub, or GitLab.
- Experience developing and maintaining software documentation throughout the development lifecycle.

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off., Primary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
