Job description

  • Troubleshoot, analyze for root causes for problems, ensure database availability, security and stability, performance tuning and optimization.
  • Provides expertise to Application programmer staff technical questions related to Db2.
  • Manages and maintains data in all Production and Test Db2 (Mainframe z/OS)
  • Handles data refreshes from Production to Test environments based on user requirements.
  • Performs maintenance of the Db2 environments including image copies, performance monitoring, capacity management, and object upgrades.
  • Provides 24x7 on call support and works as needed after normal working hours to implement changes.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in computer science or qualifying work experience.
  • Experience with z/OS Db2 V10 or higher
  • Experience with Db2 LUW and Linux
  • 2+ years z/OS Db2 DBA including running utilities, performance monitoring, writing, and debugging complex DDL and SQL, managing Db2 Packages and security.
  • Strong z/OS Db2 object management experience including but not limited to, Referential Integrity, Triggers, Aliases, Stored Procedures, and Universal PBG and PBR
  • Experience with all Db2 utilities including Image Copy, Reorg, Recovery, Run stats, Unload/Load, etc.
  • Can perform recovery to Image Copy or RBA
  • Able to provide performance tuning by analyzing Database and O/S performance using Explain, articulate the benefits, and implement the solution.
  • Can perform the design and distribution of all Db2 objects with good performance, proper security, and structure matching the needs of the data and its access.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts in terms clients can understand.
  • Results oriented with strong attention to detail.
