Job description

  • Lead the software development lifecycle for assigned projects, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, on-time, and within-budget solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems engineering, hardware engineering, and program management, to define and execute software development plans.
  • Manage the Integrated Product Team (IPT), delegating tasks, driving accountability, and resolving technical and project-related issues.
  • Oversee requirements analysis, design, development, integration, and testing of software systems and applications.
  • Direct risk management activities, identifying and mitigating potential risks to ensure project success.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for software-related matters, both internally and externally with customers or stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with RTX processes, standards, and certification requirements (e.g., DO-178, CMMI, etc.).
  • Obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued SECRET security clearance.

Requirements

The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance, * Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and five (5) years of prior relevant experience.

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing software projects.
  • Experience with C++, Java, or Python, and software development tools.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and tools.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued SECRET security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance., * A degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent technical field.
  • An advanced degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent technical field.
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering processes and integration of software with hardware systems.
  • Proficiency in software engineering principles.
  • Experience managing complex software projects.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • At least 10 years of experience in software development and/or software project management, preferably in aerospace or defense industries.
  • Experience with aerospace industry standards such as DO-178C, MIL-STD-498, or similar.
  • Knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with RTX's software development frameworks and tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, schedules, and resource allocation for large-scale projects.
  • Experience in mentoring and coaching junior engineers.

The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
