Job description
The Systems Administrator I is responsible for providing first-line support and maintenance of IT infrastructure systems and servers, assisting with user account management and providing support for internal systems and customers issues. This role involves monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting servers and endpoints to ensure optimal performance uptime and security. In addition, the System Administrator I may assist in implementing IT solutions under the guidance of Senior System Administrator, System Administrator II, or IT Solutions Architect., * Assist with User Creation and Termination Processes:
- Facilitate the onboarding and offboarding process by creating, modifying, and terminating user accounts in active directory, email systems, and other applications in a timely and accurate manner to maintain security and compliance
- Administer User Access and Permissions:
- Contribute to the management of user accounts, group policies, and permissions within active directory or other directory services to ensure secure access.
- Optimize Workflows:
- Identify and document workflows within the delivery lane to align with industry standard or best practices.
- Create and refine documentation for user account workflows, onboarding and offboarding, aiming to streamline processes and improve consistency across all user lifecycle events. Identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks, such as account creation, permissions assignments, software deployment, and updates, using tools like PowerShell, scripting, or automation platforms to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
- Patch Management:
- Apply patches and updates to operating systems, applications, and firmware to keep systems up-to-date and secure routinely after business hours.
- Maintenance and Support:
- Perform tasks including group policies, print services, research event log warnings and errors, resource monitoring, and ensuring system architecture components work together seamlessly.
- Monitors, maintains, and facilitates the backup process and activities around critical and key business systems.
- Monitors and maintain system reliability and performance.
- Complete or support updates or enhancement of servers after business hours.
- Partner and interact with the help desk and other teams to assist in troubleshooting, diagnose root causes, and provide technical support on existing systems and technologies as needed. Interacts with end-users to obtain clarification of problems and provide resolution for application and system failures or degradations.
- Provides first tier escalation point for service desk that may require on call or after-hours support to identify root cause, provide technical assistance, solutions or escalate to next level.
- Maintains logs and device inventories, as well as appropriate documentation including application notes, drawing, internal operating procedures, knowledge articles and system configurations.
- Proactively and effectively communicate changes within the IT infrastructure to all effected parties. Follow and document strict testing and deployment methodologies for IT Operations.
Essential Skills & Experience: A 2- or 4-year degree in Information Systems, System and Network security and some systems related experience (internship, co-op, etc.) or equivalent education/experience.
Travel Requirements: Travel will be required and will vary according to business requirements. Travel should not exceed 10% of your time.
