Job description

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our growing team and play a key role in building reliable, performant, and scalable systems across our product. You'll work across the stack-from TypeScript APIs to modern React frontends-helping define architecture, improve developer experience, and drive code quality across the team.

In this role, you'll be expected to work closely with product, design, and fellow engineers to deliver user-facing features, refine our internal APIs, and evolve our platform architecture as we scale. You will see projects through from conception to production and everything in between.

This is a remote role with the opportunity for monthly meetups with the team in New York City.

ROLE OUTLINE

Drive Technical Decisions

  • Propose, architect, and implement projects from the ground up.
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable systems and APIs.
  • Drive modernization of legacy systems and ensure adherence to best practices.

Collaborate & Communicate

  • Work directly with other engineers, designers, and product management to efficiently deliver high-quality features for both external and internal audiences.
  • Build, test, and deploy new features across frontend and backend systems.
  • Ensure performant, accessible, and maintainable code on both client and server sides.

Take Ownership & Propose Improvements

  • Don't simply write code, own it all the way to production.
  • Continually improve our software delivery process.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and frameworks, evaluating their fit for the organization.
  • Propose and lead initiatives that improve developer experience, CI/CD pipelines, and internal tooling.
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across frontend and backend services.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience building modern TypeScript web applications
  • Deep understanding of React and Node.js
  • Experience designing and integrating with RESTful and RPC-style APIs
  • Strong knowledge of SQL (PostgreSQL preferred) and data modeling best practices
  • Understand relational and non-relational databases
  • Familiarity with modern CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions preferred)
  • Experience building and deploying production workloads on AWS
  • Experience improving codebases through testing, observability, and refactoring
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a product-minded approach
  • An understanding of security issues and responsibilities

NICE TO HAVES

  • Experience working in a regulated environment (HIPAA)
  • Experience with any of the following:
  • Next.js, Nest.js, Effect, Drizzle, Pulumi

Benefits & conditions

  • Make a Mark: Help define customer success at a mission-driven, science-backed startup.
  • Grow with Us: Build relationships with leading physicians and health-conscious consumers.
  • Competitive Compensation: Includes salary and meaningful equity.
  • Full Benefits: Medical, dental, vision and more.
