Job description

Serco is seeking a Lead Cyber Systems Administrator to lead Battlespace Systems Team for the 705th CTS Distributed Mission Operations Center - Infrastructure Development and Engineering (DMOC-IDE) team at Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

This role is essential to maintaining and securing the systems that power mission-critical simulation software, network infrastructure, and Live-Virtual-Constructive (LVC) Distributed Mission Operations (DMO). The System Administrator will ensure reliable system performance, support system configuration and integration, manage vulnerabilities, and maintain compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements across the DMOC Battlespace.

In this role, you will:

  • Install, configure, and maintain RHEL and Windows systems, servers, and mission-support applications.
  • Manage system accounts, permissions, directory services, and system policies in Active Directory.
  • Perform system monitoring, log reviews, resource management, and performance optimization.
  • Sustain support for virtualization (VMware ESXi), storage provisioning, or virtual networking.
  • Troubleshoot system issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Support system integration and testing activities alongside engineering and simulation teams.
  • Maintain accurate system documentation, configuration baselines, and technical procedures
  • Support DMOC system operations during exercises, events, integration periods, and test windows.
  • Collaborate with network engineers, software developers, mission system operators, and cybersecurity teams.\
  • Present system status, findings, or issues to internal stakeholders or leadership when required.
  • Maintain systems to ensure high availability, reliability, and readiness for mission execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related field. In lieu of a bachelors degree, an associates degree and 2 additional years of experience, or a HS Diploma/GED and 4 years of additional experience will be considered.
  • Ability to obtain an Active DoD Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP) and SCI eligible.
  • Experience in administering and assessing Windows/Linux systems for configuration compliance and security posture (NIST SP 800-53 / RMF-aligned).
  • Experience in evaluating system security controls and supporting compliance or accreditation activities.
  • Experience inmaintaining cybersecurity documentation, system artifacts, or audit evidence.
  • Experience in researching system vulnerabilities and recommending remediation strategies.
  • Experience supporting DoD systems, platforms, sensors, or subsystem environments.
  • Familiarity with system requirements development, validation, and verification.
  • DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II certification

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • Active Top Secret clearance
  • Experience with virtualization (VMware ESXi), storage provisioning, or virtual networking.
  • Experience in hardware test, reverse engineering, or embedded environments.
  • Prior work in cross-domain or multi-network environments.
  • Experience supporting government agencies or large defense programs.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to present technical information effectively.
