Job description

In this role as an IT Infrastructure Engineer you will assist with the design, implementation, and maintenance of both secure and non-secure DoD networks. Utilizing a multifaceted skills base you will ensure mission success for a demanding DoD customer. You will support on prem and cloud-based infrastructure with a team of motivated IT enthusiast.

What You'll Be Doing: Assist with design, development and implementation of a global secure communications network that interconnects critical DoD weapon systems

  • Maintaining an AWS hybrid cloud virtualized network
  • Maintaining Cisco ASA next generation firewalls
  • Integrating and utilizing network monitoring tools such as Splunk
  • Assisting users with AD/LDAP issues
  • Ensure strict security protocols provide by the IA team are being followed
  • Assist with and document new policies and procedures to maintain business continuity
  • Troubleshoot layer 1-4 networking issues
  • Maintain an on prem ESXi/VMware environment
  • Respond to rapid prototyping special communication needs
  • Using BGP and EIGRP
  • Creating multiple types of VPN tunnels

Requirements

  • 10 years of experience in IT infrastructure engineering or systems engineering
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in a related field is required or In lieu of a bachelor's degree, an equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and at least 2 years of directly related professional experience will be considered.
  • Experience supporting enterprise network and server infrastructure in production environments
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking fundamentals including routing, switching, NAT, VLANs, and firewall policies
  • Intermediate knowledge of administering Linux and/or Windows server environments
  • Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, or similar)
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting enterprise firewalls and VPN technologies (IPsec, SSL VPN, WireGuard, etc.)
  • Experience deploying and maintaining infrastructure in AWS or other cloud platforms
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues across network, OS, and application layers
  • Experience with infrastructure automation or scripting (Bash, Python, PowerShell, or similar)
  • Experience working in secure or regulated environments (STIGs, NIST, RMF, or similar compliance frameworks)
  • Strong documentation skills and ability to produce network diagrams and architecture documentation
  • Ability to support operational troubleshooting and participate in incident response
  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • An active IAT III level certification

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Experience designing or supporting site-to-site VPN architectures or hub-and-spoke networks
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible)
  • Experience with container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience operating hybrid cloud environments
  • Familiarity with observability and logging platforms (Splunk, ELK, CloudWatch)
  • Experience implementing zero-trust or segmented network architectures
  • Knowledge of PKI infrastructure and certificate lifecycle management
  • Experience supporting air-gapped or highly secured networks
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools
  • Previous experience supporting DoD or federal environments
  • AWS Solutions Architect Associate
  • CISSP, Security+, or equivalent
  • Cisco CCNA/CCNP
  • VMware VCP

Security Clearance Requirement: An active Top Secret SCI security clearance is required for this position.
