Job description
We are currently seeking a Hydrogeology/Geospatial Consulting Scientist for our Environmental and Earth Sciences Practice in Burlington, MA. In this role, you will be a key member of a multidisciplinary team that supports projects focused on environmental site assessment, contaminant fate and transport, and related hydrogeologic and geospatial analyses. You will work with complex environmental and geospatial datasets to evaluate surface and subsurface hydrologic and geologic conditions, develop and communicate conceptual site models, and prepare high-quality technical deliverables for clients and stakeholders. The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, technically rigorous, and eager to expand their expertise into emerging environmental issues, including evolving water and waste management policies/regulations, and contaminants of emerging concern.
You will be responsible for
- Examining surface and subsurface hydrologic and geologic conditions through the lens of water and contaminant fate & transport
- Synthesizing technical information and applying critical thinking to prepare and review reports and technical presentations
- Integrating, processing, and quality-checking large environmental and geospatial datasets
- Developing and assisting in the development of conceptual site models for contaminated sites with varying scales, hydrogeologic settings, and contaminants of concern
- Preparing clear, visually effective figures, maps, and presentation materials to support client communications, technical updates, and project deliverables.
- Working cooperatively on projects with other members of the Environmental and Earth Sciences Practice and interdisciplinary groups from other Exponent practices as appropriate
Requirements
- Ph.D. (or M.S. with relevant experience) in Hydrogeology, Geology, Earth Sciences, Hydrology, GIS, Environmental Science, or similar discipline
- At least 3 years of experience in consulting or government agency (e.g., regulatory agency, Army Corps of Engineers, EPA, DEP)
- Proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tools is required; (ArcGIS Professional experience strongly desired)
- Expertise in large dataset integration, visualization, and geospatial data analysis
- Excellent communication, organization, and writing skills
- Must be detail-oriented, able to work independently and as part of a team, and manage time effectively
- Strong ability to prioritize multiple projects with competing deadlines

- Presently legally authorized to work in the United States. No immigration sponsorship or processing required.

Exponent's total compensation plan is consistent with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed and with the professional standards set by Exponent. At the Manager level and above total compensation includes base salary, annual bonus, and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.
Salary Range
USD $110,000.00 - USD $131,000.00 /Yr.
