As senior DevOps Engineer - Level 5 , this role will sit in our Dulles, VA location. In this role, you'll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one.

This work will primarily be performed in a SCIF environment. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work . This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

Job Responsibilities

In this role you will:

  • Automate cloud native technologies, deploy applications, and provision critical infrastructure

  • Work with microservices and distributed application architecture, such as containers, Kubernetes, and/or serverless technology

  • Work within the OpenStack cloud ecosystem to configure and deploy optimized infrastructure

  • Ensure monitoring and health of the resources deployed via Nagios or other enterprise management solutions

  • Document procedures used during deployment cycles

  • Work with the fellow DevOps team and play a mentoring role to cross-train and grow technical talent across DevOps team and assist in troubleshooting tasks

  • Implement clean and maintainable infrastructure-as-code that adheres to industry best practices, terraform

Mastery of container technologies and orchestration-Docker and Kubernetes-along with continuous-integration pipelines such as Jenkins or GitLab, empowers you to design and maintain sophisticated, automated workflows that configure servers and deploy code effortlessly. All of this combines into a role that is dynamic, innovative, and downright exciting for anyone who loves turning complex problems into elegant, automated solutions.

This position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company.

Requirements

  • Requires an active / current U.S. Government DoD Top-Secret ( TS ) security clearance at time of application , current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) approval/access within a reasonable period of time [ US citizenship required ]

  • Level 5 : (Staff level ) Minimum education and years of experience below:

  • Bachelor's degree with 12 years of relevant DevOps and software development experience

  • An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a completed Bachelor's

  • Master's degree with 10 years of relevant DevOps and software development experience

  • PhD with 8 years of relevant DevOps and software development experience

  • Proven experience of DevOps and software development experience at a senior level

  • Experience creating, executing, and troubleshooting complex, automated processes used to configure servers and/or deploy code

  • Experience with Linux tools/automation and shell scripting

  • Experience with Python

  • Experience with AWS/cloud environment

  • Experience with OpenStack management

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Terraform, & Ansible

  • Experience with containerization orchestration, i.e. Docker, Kubernetes (K8s), Podman

  • Experience with continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD) tools such as Jenkins or GitLab

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in technical leadership role managing technical objectives and Jira metrics reporting

Preferred Qualifications (not required, but nice to have):

  • STEM degree

  • Active/Current SCI

  • Kubernetes (K8s) expertise

  • Atlassian tool suite

Primary Level Salary Range: $177,000.00 - $265,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
