Job description
The CMD Illustrations team within Pacific Life Technology develops and maintains the desktop and web applications that financial professionals use to create life insurance illustrations. These illustrations help clients understand how Pacific Life products can meet their financial goals. The Applications Development Manager leads a workstream within this team, driving project execution, strategic planning, and team performance while ensuring delivery aligns with organizational objectives and emerging technology opportunities.
How you'll help move us forward:
Team Leadership
- Lead a team of 4-5 FTEs consisting of System Analysts and Application Developers responsible for implementing Life Insurance products on the Navigator Illustration platform.
- Foster a high-performance culture by setting clear goals, managing performance, and supporting professional growth.
- Coordinate effectively with cross-functional teams to align activities and deliver results.
Project & Workstream Leadership
- Lead complex project initiatives from planning through delivery, ensuring alignment with strategic roadmaps and business objectives.
- Drive execution excellence through effective prioritization, risk management, and stakeholder collaboration.
Strategic Planning & Talent Development
- Contribute to long-term strategic planning and technology modernization efforts.
- Build team capabilities through succession planning, mentorship, and talent pipeline development to ensure continuity in key roles.
Continuous Improvement
- Champion process improvements and best practices to increase team efficiency.
- Evaluate emerging technologies to drive innovation and enhance organizational capabilities.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in project delivery, team leadership, or technical program management
- 8+ years of experience in Life insurance with expertise in permanent products (IUL, VUL, UL)
- 5+ years of experience in application development within a structured SDLC framework (Waterfall, Agile, etc.)
- Proven ability to develop strategic roadmaps and align execution with enterprise priorities
- Track record of building and managing high-performing teams
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- BS or higher education

Benefits & conditions
The base pay range noted represents the company's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.
$152,010.00 - $185,790.00
