Job description
We have been exclusively engaged by a well-established retail and consumer brand known for its strong market presence, loyal customer base, and continued investment in technology to support growth and operational excellence. They are hiring a Senior Systems Engineer focused on Manhattan Warehouse Management Systems (WMOS) to play a critical role in supporting and stabilizing a core fulfillment platform, while also positioning the business for a future transition to a modern WMS environment. This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys being the go-to expert in a high-impact system, where your work directly supports day-to-day operations, while also giving you a seat at the table for a major WMS modernization initiative in the near future. This is a full-time, direct hire role that is primarily remote, with occasional travel to their headquarters outside Philadelphia, PA tied to key projects and system initiatives. The Role You'll Play This is a hands-on, techno-functional role centered around supporting, configuring, and enhancing a Manhattan WMOS environment. The focus is on keeping the system running smoothly, solving problems as they arise, and supporting business-driven changes, not building brand new applications from scratch. You will work closely with a small, collaborative team and act as a subject matter expert for WMS, helping bridge the gap between operations, IT, and external vendors. What You'll Be Responsible For:
- Serve as a primary technical resource supporting Manhattan WMOS (version 2015) in a production environment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues across warehouse and fulfillment operations
- Perform system configuration and updates, including codes, workflows, and system behavior
- Support integrations and message flows using Manhattan Integration Framework (MIF)
- Write and analyze SQL queries for troubleshooting, reporting, and validation
- Partner with business users to support operational needs and system improvements
- Assist with new partner onboarding and integration efforts (e.g., new retail or fulfillment channels)
- Work with vendors, including Manhattan support, to resolve complex or escalated issues
- Support testing, validation, and deployment of system changes
- Document system processes, configurations, and issue resolutions
- Ensure systems and processes align with SOX compliance requirements, including the ability to clearly explain system behavior to auditors
- Contribute to planning and future-state discussions around WMS upgrades and modernization (Manhattan Active)
Requirements
This role is best suited for someone who has deep, hands-on experience with Manhattan WMOS and enjoys being in a role where they can own, support, and improve a critical system. You are someone who can troubleshoot issues independently, understands how WMS platforms operate under the hood, and can communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Core Requirements:
-
5+ years of hands-on experience with Manhattan WMOS (2015)
-
Experience supporting live WMS environments, including troubleshooting and issue resolution
-
Strong SQL skills for querying, analysis, and system troubleshooting
-
Experience working with Manhattan Integration Framework (MIF) or similar messaging/integration frameworks
-
Ability to support and modify system configurations, message flows, and integration templates
-
Solid understanding of warehouse, distribution, and fulfillment operations
-
Experience working in SOX-controlled or audit-sensitive environments
-
Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical issues clearly to business stakeholders and auditors Preferred / Nice to Have:
-
Exposure to Manhattan Active or newer WMS platforms
-
Familiarity with Java-based WMS environments (no heavy development required)
-
Experience in retail, eCommerce, or distribution environments
-
Experience supporting ERP integrations and downstream system impacts
-
Experience working in small, high-ownership teams
