Job description
As a Game Designer working with the Paradox Development Studio in Stockholm, you will be an on-site project team member involved in designing gameplay features and systems under the guidance of the Game Director. You will have a direct and influential impact on the quality and feel of the game.

Relationships
- The Game Designer will have the Operations Manager as their direct manager while collaborating closely with the Design Lead and Game Director on day-to-day tasks, priorities, and design direction
- Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team (other designers, programmers, artists, production, and QA) to lead task breakdown and estimation, ensure quality through continuous playtesting and iteration, and optimize design, system efficiency, and content quality
- Engagement on various levels to identify and solve design problems, e.g., fanbase, other Paradox designers and Game Directors, user research, and analytics team, * Design and implement new game systems and features
- Help to deliver the creative vision set by the Game Director
- Write and maintain design documentation
- Come up with your own ideas and creative contributions
- Work closely with other members of the team to make sure that implementation is done according to the design
- Be autonomous and proactive in your work
- Coaching junior designers and providing constructive feedback on their work
- Delegation of less complex tasks to junior designers
- Uphold good relationships within the team with a clear understanding of expectations for the game we are making
Requirements
- At least three years of professional games industry experience in Game Design
- A demonstrable experience with complex system and feature designs
- Ability to work highly independently with assigned tasks and take responsibility for delivering game design specifications according to the project's schedule
- A solid understanding of core loops and player experience
- A genuine passion for strategy games and Paradox games in particular
- Fluent in spoken and written English
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work and inspire in a team environment
As a bonus, you might have
- An academic or personal interest in history, economics, and/or politics
- Experience with programming or scripting
- Experience with creating mods for Paradox games
- Experience with other strategy games
- Tertiary skills in related fields such as UX, Art, or Sound
