Job description

  • Assist in the instructional process by working with students individually or in small groups, supplementing regular instruction and implementing teacher-developed lesson plans under the direct supervision of an instructional staff member.
  • Assist in the preparation, organization, and use of instructional aids, materials, and technology as directed.
  • Work with the teacher to reinforce positive learning and behavior patterns among students.
  • Assist students in the development of study skills necessary for learning and in the achievement of instructional objectives.
  • Support parental involvement activities.
  • Demonstrate understanding and respect of individual student's culture and interests.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with laws and policies concerning confidentiality of student information.
  • Perform related clerical and recordkeeping duties as directed.
  • Adhere to safety procedures.
  • Provide support in a computer laboratory, library/media center, and/or other learning facilities when appropriate.
  • Assist in implementation of a student's Individual Education Plan (IEP).
  • Act as a translator if able and as appropriate.
  • Monitor student behavior/activity in the cafeteria and other campus locations with the support of administrators and/or teachers.
  • Perform Medicaid administrative claims reimbursable activities as directed in accordance with Chapter 3 of the federally approved School District Administrative Claiming (SDAC) Guide.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent and passing score on ParaPro Exam., * Completion of 60 credit hours or an Associate's degree from an accredited institution., * Associate's degree.
  • One (1) year of related experience.

Relevant work experience or education may be substituted to satisfy minimum qualifications.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Clear and concise oral and written communication skills; organizational and management skills.
  • Knowledge of general policies and procedures for the functional area of assignment.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, Public Records, Sunshine Law, FERPA, and other laws/regulations related to student and employee privacy, public information, and records retention.
  • Knowledge of and experience with industry-standard equipment, materials, practices, computers, and applications.
  • Ability to professionally and effectively respond to customer needs and requests for service or assistance.
