Job description

As a Senior Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial and Investment Bank specifically in the Markets Technology and Spread Pricing Direct team, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives., * Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems independently with minimal supervision

  • Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems while taking full ownership of technical decisions and outcomes
  • Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development with complete autonomy and strategic oversight
  • Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in the application maintenance and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture independently, serving as a technical authority
  • Leverages AI-powered development tools like co-pilot, Claude agents to enhance productivity, code quality, and development workflows with minimal guidance
  • Maintains, monitors, and optimizes existing production systems to ensure operational stability and performance, taking full ownership of system health and performance metrics
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect while mentoring and guiding junior team members

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience in senior or lead roles.
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Advanced in one or more programming language(s) Java
  • Good experience in cloud-native foundations AWS
  • Advanced experience in application development (Java, Spring Boot, databases and cloud-native foundations AWS)
  • Proven experience with Micro services and RESTful Web services
  • Advanced knowledge of software applications and technical processes with considerable in-depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
  • Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight
  • Knowledge of frontend UI frameworks such as ReactJS
  • Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or similar platforms to accelerate development and improve code quality
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance existing systems while ensuring minimal disruption to business operations

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Knowledge of the financial products (e.g. Fixed Income Securities, Structured products, Derivatives etc.)
  • Understanding of NoSQL databases
