Job description

Lantana Consulting Group provides services and software for standards-based health-information exchange. We have established ourselves as a trusted leader in the industry with two decades of expertise in developing and deploying technical specifications and interoperability solutions. As a rapidly growing distributed, employee-owned company, we hire exceptional talent nationwide and offer flexible remote work arrangements. We take pride in our mission to improve public health and quality of care and to advance research.

Primary Purpose

Contributes to the design, development, and operation of secure data integrations between internal Azure-hosted healthcare platforms and external partners. Focuses on building reliable, auditable data exchanges across batch files, APIs, and event-driven patterns while ensuring data quality, traceability, and compliance in a regulated environment (PHI/PII, FedRAMP Moderate, NIST 800-53).

A Successful Candidate Will Do The Following

  • Use Azure-native services (including API Management, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, Event Grid, Storage, and Key Vault) to assist with the design and implementation of inbound and outbound integrations
  • Support the build and maintenance of batch-based file exchanges (SFTP/MFT), including scheduling, file-naming conventions, schema validation, encryption/signing (PGP), and delivery acknowledgements
  • Develop API-based integrations, including REST endpoints, contract-first design (OpenAPI), versioning, and support for partner onboarding
  • Create and maintain mapping specifications and transformation logic (JSON, XML, CSV, EDI) supporting partner-specific layouts and canonical models
  • Contribute to validation frameworks, error reporting, and interface runbooks to improve data quality and operational support
  • Use Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Log Analytics, and dashboards to configure monitoring and alerting for interface health and SLA reporting
  • Participate in incident response, root-cause analysis, and post-incident improvements for integration issues
  • Implement secure connectivity patterns, manage secrets and certificates, and follow compliance standards
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to define interface contracts, exchange schedules, retry/reconciliation processes, and deployment plans
  • Support CI/CD pipeline development, infrastructure as code (with Bicep), and automation initiatives under guidance from senior engineers

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of three years of experience in building and supporting enterprise system integrations (preferably in healthcare)
  • Hands-on experience with Azure services: Azure API Management, Azure Functions, Service Bus, Event Grid, Storage, Key Vault, Azure Monitor, Application Insights
  • Proficiency in C#/.NET or Python
  • Experience with batch and file-based exchange patterns: SFTP/MFT, file manifests, control totals, retries, and reconciliation
  • Experience with data transformation and parsing with formats like CSV, JSON, XML, or EDI
  • Strong SQL skills for querying, validating loads, and troubleshooting integration-related data issues
  • Familiarity with regulated environments (and associated elements such as PHI/PII, principles of HIPAA) and secure engineering practices (audit logging, access controls)
  • Ability to produce clear interface documentation, including mapping specs, runbooks, operational procedures, and partner-onboarding guides, * Experience in healthcare data exchange with standards such as X12 (270/271, 276/277, 834, 835), HL7 v2, FHIR, NCPDP, or custom provider roster/network files
  • Experience migrating legacy SFTP/MFT patterns to Azure-native designs
  • Experience with data-orchestration tools (Azure Data Factory, SSIS) in hybrid modernization scenarios
  • Experience implementing message idempotency, exactly-once processing strategies, and replay-safe processing patterns
  • Familiarity with FedRAMP Moderate/NIST 800-53 compliance practices
  • Experience with Purview or data-governance concepts (lineage, classification, retention)
  • Certifications in Microsoft Azure Developer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Azure Security Engineer Associate
  • Scripting experience with PowerShell/Bash
  • Experience with React for building modern web applications
