Job description
We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Backbone Services team to help us maintain, optimize, and further develop our core account management, authentication, and partner platform integration services. These systems are essential to the operations of every other service at Mailgun and are heavily relied upon.
An ideal candidate will be detail-oriented with keen organizational skills, be a self-starter who has a strong sense of ownership, and is comfortable working on a small team while also collaborating independently with various other teams across the Sinch organization. We are looking for someone who is a team player, with good communication skills, who is eager to work on scaling our existing systems alongside contributing to the future technical direction and features we will build.
Responsibilities

Makes design decisions and technology recommendations to satisfy business requirements based on the product roadmap/vision.

Makes recommendations based upon established vision and associated analysis in order to satisfy tactical, operational, and strategic needs.

Capable of prototyping solutions to determine feasibility and provide an outline to others for implementation.

Designs sustainable solutions and processes that minimize developer support and intervention.

Design, build, and maintain internal and external APIs that support partner integrations and downstream services.

Work with a high degree of autonomy in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.

Mentor other engineers and help to foster a culture of high-quality code and accountability.
Requirements

Proficient in Go and/or Python.

Experience working in a CI/CD environment.

Experience with noSQL (Mongo, Cassandra) databases.

Experience with highly scalable distributed systems capable of handling thousands of requests.

Experience working with and maintaining RESTful APIs.
-
Passion for clean, simple, and well-tested code.

6+ years of professional software development experience.

A strong problem-solver who is comfortable with learning new technologies.
Preferred
-
Experience integrating with platforms like HubSpot, Salesforce, GCP, AWS, Heroku, etc.

Experience building robust authentication layers and/or using authentication frameworks like OAuth 2.0.

Experience with mentoring.
This is a remote opportunity, but candidates must reside near one of our hub locations for occasional collaboration: Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; San Antonio, TX; Denver, CO

The annual starting salary for this position is between $123,000 - $154,000. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/ market , skills, education, experience, and other qualifications.
