Job description

The Microsoft Azure Storage Platform team is responsible for defining, building, and deploying the foundational platforms and setting strategy, managing, and optimizing the fleet hosting Azure Storage services. We are looking for a dynamic Senior Technical Program manager to join Azure Storage End to End Capacity and Efficiency team. This is a unique opportunity to work on cloud scale fleet capacity management and drive optimizations for delivering operational excellence in storage fleet management for best-in-class 1P and 3P customer experiences.

You will be responsible for understanding customer requirements, perform fleet data analysis towards identifying trends impacting storage fleet capacity efficiencies, steering the capacity strategy and operations and drive initiatives to deliver fleet capacity efficiencies via technology and operational focus to deliver end to end seamless customer capacity experiences while meeting fleet quality, availability and business profitability goals.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver subject matter expertise for Azure Storage fleet capacity strategy and roadmap.
  • Performance fleet analysis towards identifying trends impacting storage fleet capacity efficiencies.
  • Drive execution and operationalize cross Azure Storage initiatives with focus on reducing Storage fleet inefficiencies, improving internal processes, implementing capacity automation and delivering seamless capacity availability.
  • Identify, recommend new investments with focus on overall fleet capacity automation and, fleet management optimization.
  • Drive cross group collaborations, present plans and get buy off with senior technical leaders.

Requirements

Are you passionate about cloud computing, large scale distributed systems and being on the forefront of driving innovations at massive scale?, * Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects., * Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter., * Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Analytical skills, able to make informed tradeoffs, and able to break down and solve complex and often ambiguous problems.
  • Experience working on cloud scale capacity management.
  • Ability to assimilate customer trends and define coherent fleet management and capacity strategy.
  • Experience in fleet operations, infrastructure tooling, capacity management and fleet operations optimizations (migration, utilization, sellable, profitability).
  • Analytical skills and pragmatic understanding of cloud scale storage fleet architectures, and software capabilities.
  • Experience presenting plans and building consensus with senior technical leaders.
  • Collaboration skills with the ability to influence and drive change across groups both within.

Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
