Job description

The Development Manager reports to the Chief Development & Communications Officer and plays a central role in grant writing, RFP development, funding strategy, and proposal coordination., Grant Writing & Proposal Development

  • Lead development and submission of grant proposals, contract applications, and RFPs.
  • Write compelling narratives, supporting documents, and funding justifications.
  • Prepare and track grant submissions under leadership direction.
  • Review and edit proposals to ensure accuracy, clarity, and competitiveness.
  • Maintain organized documentation for all funding submissions.

Funding Research & Opportunity Management

  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities through foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
  • Monitor institutional funding calendars and new opportunities.
  • Attend bidder conferences and gather information for government funding requests.
  • Support preparation of annual Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) submissions.

Internal Collaboration & Coordination

  • Work with regional and program leaders to develop strong program narratives and budgets.
  • Ensure proposal alignment across programs and prevent duplication.
  • Collaborate with another staff member in a similar role; this position is not the sole grant writer.
  • Participate in internal meetings and support development strategy execution.

Administrative & Technical Tasks

  • Ensure all submissions meet guidelines and deadlines.
  • Manage proposal tracking, filing, and reporting needs.
  • Use Raiser's Edge (required) and other donor databases.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is a polished, professional communicator who thrives in a mission?driven environment and brings strong writing, organization, and collaboration skills. This role works onsite alongside a small, supportive team and partners with a peer in a similar function., * Bachelor's degree (required) in communications, nonprofit management, public administration, or a related field.

  • A minimum of 3 years of Grant writing experience with demonstrated success developing proposals.
  • Raiser's Edge (or Raiser's Edge NXT) proficiency
  • Strong writing, editing, and persuasive storytelling skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast?paced environment.
  • Polished, professional communication and attention to detail.
  • Comfort working onsite daily in a collaborative office environment.

Pay Details: $62,000.00 to $66,500.00 per year
