Job description
The Integration Engineer leads the design, governance, and maintenance of enterprise-level interoperability systems supporting imaging workflows, patient identity management, and cross-system data exchange. This role blends architectural vision with hands-on administration of interface platforms and health data standards that drive our connected radiology ecosystem. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise in HealthShare/IRIS (or similar integration engines) with strong familiarity in radiology information systems (e.g. Royal, eRAD) and data interoperability across DICOM and HL7/FHIR protocols.
-
Build, configure, and maintain interfaces and data transformations using ObjectScript, HL7 v2.x, FHIR, CCD/CDA, JSON, and XML standards
-
Oversee and optimize HealthShare/IRIS engines for scalability, uptime, and data fidelity
-
Implement and manage automation pipelines for interface deployment, configuration management, and testing.
-
Document technical specifications, workflow diagrams, and test plans to support knowledge transfer and operational continuity.
-
Architect and administer the organization's enterprise interoperability and interface framework supporting RIS, PACS, and EHR integrations
Requirements
-
5+ years of experience developing or administering integration platforms such as InterSystems HealthShare, IRIS
-
Expertise in healthcare interoperability standards: HL7 v2, FHIR, CDA/CCD, JSON/XML mapping.
-
Demonstrated experience with DICOM workflows and DICOM-to-HL7 data transformation in radiology environments.
-
Familiarity with Radiology Information Systems (Royal, eRAD, or equivalent).
-
Understanding of patient identity management, record matching, and Master Patient Index (MPI) administration.
-
Strong grasp of integration protocols: MLLP, REST, SOAP, SFTP.
-
Advanced knowledge of healthcare compliance (TEFCA, 21st Century Cures Act), privacy (HIPAA, and regulatory standards (NIST).
Preferred:
-
Bachelor's Degree.
-
Experience supporting large, multisite imaging organizations with distributed RIS/PACS environments.
-
Knowledge of API management, containerized interface deployment (Docker/Kubernetes), or message queuing infrastructure.
-
Proven success in remote or hybrid collaboration and stakeholder communication.
-
Experience architecting or migrating integration systems within cloud environments (AWS, GCP)
-
Certification in InterSystems Healthshare, HL7, or integration architecture a plus
-
AWS or GCP Health Interoperability Certifications a plus
Physical Requirements:
Standard office environment.
