Job description

Leidos was awarded the U.S. Air Force Cloud One Architecture and Common Shared Services contract and currently has an opening for aAzure Cloud Architect. This position focuses on and will coordinate across multiple areas as the program supports AWS, Azure, Google, and Oracle clouds. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience to modernize a leading, global-scale multi-cloud environment in support of a critical mission, supporting USAF system resiliency, security, and cost effectiveness., We are seeking a highly capable Cloud Architect with expertise in the Azure cloud platform. A successful individual will be responsible for designing scalable cloud-native solutions, leading development efforts, and ensuring best practices across architecture, development, deployment, and security. This is a combination team-lead and hands-on technical role that requires rolling up your sleeves to architect, code, debug, and mentor.

  • Design and architect SCCA-aligned, scalable, resilient, and secure cloud solutions across Azure and others
  • Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and assess their potential impact on organizational goals
  • Drive adoption of DevOps practices, infrastructure as code, and automation frameworks
  • Design secure cloud architectures implementing zero-trust principles and defense-in-depth strategies
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, etc.) and regulatory requirements
  • Implement / integrate with identity and access management solutions and security monitoring frameworks
  • Optimize Azure services, networking, VPNs, IaaS, PaaS, and SQL systems.
  • Support the design and development of Shared Services.
  • Configure and troubleshoot cloud software systems.
  • Prepare detailed technical documentation to support development and operational processes.
  • Conduct security assessments and remediate vulnerabilities in cloud environments
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including development, operations, security, and product management
  • Create reference architectures, design patterns, and technical standards for cloud implementations

Technical Leadership

  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Present architectural designs and recommendations to executive leadership
  • Provide leadership to engineering teams of 3 to 4 engineers and technical specialists on cloud-native capability design and deployment
  • Lead architectural reviews and provide guidance on complex technical decisions

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and eight (8) years or more of experience. Additional years of experience may be accepted in lieu of degree
  • Must have a Secret Clearance
  • US citizenship required
  • Certifications: CompTIA Security+ or equivalent (IAT-2)
  • Excellent customer service skills, with experience working in a customer-facing position
  • Experience administering Windows and Linux Servers, and related services
  • Strong understanding Active Directory, Azure AD, SAML and the standards, procedures, and processes
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Experience with Azure console, Azure cloud services and architecture patterns, Ansible, Terraform/Terragrunt, Atlassian products, Git, and familiarity with Secure Cloud Computing Architecture (SCCA)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with USAF Cloud One or Platform 1
  • Experience with Zero Trust Architecture
  • Cloud certifications in Azure
