Job description

  • Lead development and evolution of the enterprise security architecture, including network, cloud, identity, endpoint, application, and data security.
  • Define security standards, reference architectures, patterns, and implementation guidance for new and existing systems.
  • Architect and evaluate secure solutions for cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP), hybrid infrastructure, and SaaS integrations.
  • Perform threat modeling, architectural risk assessments, and code/design reviews; recommend mitigations and compensating controls.
  • Collaborate with DevSecOps and engineering to embed security into CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and application lifecycles.
  • Create and maintain security architecture documentation, diagrams, and asset inventories.
  • Support incident response and forensic investigations with architectural insights and remediation plans.
  • Mentor engineers and security staff and provide best-practice guidance to cross-functional teams.
  • Stay current with threat landscape, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements; incorporate into architecture roadmaps.

Sherpa 6 is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Cybersecurity Architect to join our team. We build mission critical systems for the Department of Defense (DoD) and other commercial customers. You'll help ensure internal systems, developer workflows, and customer-facing platforms are secure, compliant, and resilient. We're seeking a technically deep, analytically sharp, and collaborative security specialist who can solve large-scale, complex challenges.   • 7+ years in cybersecurity, with at least 3 years designing enterprise security architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud security architectures (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and corresponding security services.
  • Deep knowledge of IAM, network security, encryption, PKI, endpoint protection, application security, and identity protocols (SAML, OAuth, OIDC).
  • Demonstrated experience performing threat modeling, risk assessments, and control selection.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Must be a US citizen

Qualities of Exceptional Candidates:

  • Strong scripting/automation skills (Python, PowerShell, Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar).
  • CISSP, CISM, SABSA, CCSP, Security+ or similar architecture/security certifications., The proposed salary range is reflective across all Sherpa 6 locations, years of experience, and skill levels. Salary negotiations will be based on a host of factors including but not limited to your geographic location, prior experience, relevant skills, education, and certifications.
