Job description
Interstate Power Systems is seeking an experienced Application-Engineer to join our team in Butler, Wisconsin. This role serves as a key technical resource for the sales team and customers, ensuring proper product application and successful integration across multiple engines, transmission, and power-generation platforms.
The Application-Engineer will be responsible for delivering customized engine package solutions, providing technical guidance, supporting product selection and quoting, and ensuring final installations meet performance and quality expectations., * Serve as the technical point of contact for outside sales representatives and customers
- Ensure proper application of Allison, Deutz, John Deere Marine, Kohler Marine, MTU, and Volvo Penta product lines
- Assist sales teams with product specifications, bills of material, cost analysis, and quotation development
- Interface with customers and vendors to gather and verify required technical information
- Design customized engine and power package solutions to meet project requirements
- Inspect and test completed equipment at customer sites to verify installation quality and performance
Specific Duties
- Collaborate with OEM customers to understand application-engineer needs and recommend suitable engines, transmissions, generators, and support equipment
- Provide manufacturer interface diagrams, documentation, and installation instructions
- Prepare and submit technical submittals to customers
- Create project-specific layouts and custom engineering drawings
- Design custom engine power units using SolidWorks, including sheet metal modeling, fabrication drawings, and bills of material
- Support prototype assembly and testing efforts
- Provide inspection and testing requirements in accordance with manufacturer's standards
- Track open project tasks and coordinate scheduling priorities with management
- Provide cross-functional support to other Application-Engineers as needed
Travel Requirements
- Attend manufacturer training and annual product update sessions
- Participating in industry trade shows to stay informed on market trends
- Travel to customer OEM locations for equipment integration, inspection, and commissioning
- Overnight travel estimated at 6-10 weeks per year
Requirements

- Above-average mathematical and written communication skills
- Solid technical understanding of mechanical and electrical systems
- Knowledge of standard application-engineering principles and practices
- Ability to create and interpret technical drawings and diagrams
- Comfortable communicating technical details to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD, * Bachelor's or Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Engineering Technology
- Minimum of 3-5 years of related experience
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background checks
