Job description

A Mid-Level Systems Engineer is needed for a critical program providing a broad range of support to operational requirements including Software Engineering, Systems Integration, Systems Administration, Network Engineering, Information Assurance, Cyber Security, Analytics Development, and Rapid Prototyping., * Provide guidance and support for system engineering of large-scale systems, major system elements, and interfacing systems that are part of a large complex network environment with geographically distributed components.

  • Provide technical guidance and support for future system enhancements and design.
  • Update System Engineering Documentation.
  • Provide Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) or similar evaluation methodologies.
  • Interface with Program Management, System and Software Integration Engineers, Test Engineers, Information Assurance Engineers, and other project team members in an Agile environment.
  • Develop and implement system engineering practices ensuring the proper degree of engineering rigor is applied to all assigned tasks.
  • Communicate with and effectively collaborate with internal technical professionals on a day-to-day basis, and with representatives from customer organizations when necessary.
  • Actively participate in program increment planning and related Agile team activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in System Engineering, Engineering Science, Computer Science, or a related field, and at least 8 years of related experience. Additional relevant work experience may be substituted for a degree.

  • Must have in-depth experience in several of the following areas: system architecture, design and development, requirements analysis, data flow design/analysis, network design/implementation, testing, technical system documentation.

  • Must have experience or strong familiarity with data centers and/or server rooms, to include: Rack based Servers, Network Switches, KVM's, Routers, Backup and Recovery devices, Firewalls, and security appliances.

  • Must have at least 1-3 years of experience with infrastructure components (Servers, Switches, Firewalls, and other Enterprise Infrastructure hardware).

  • Must have at least 5 years of experience working on system architecture design, building, and integration.

  • Must have at least 5 years of experience working on large complex system architectures.

  • Must have requirements verification traceability experience.

  • Must have experience analyzing user requirements, system architecture, and/or system requirements specifications.

  • Must have experience in discovery, research and analysis for hardware and software transitions.

  • Must have experience gathering information related to the lifecycle of equipment and software.

  • Must possess a solid understanding of secure systems engineering and development.

  • Must be comfortable working on multiple systems and components simultaneously in various configurations.

  • Must be able to effectively plan and prioritize tasking and communicate clearly regarding technical options and trade-offs.

  • Must be capable of performing systems engineering activities in support of Agile teams on a large program.

  • Must be committed to adopting, adhering to, and championing best practices.

  • Clearance Required: Must have TS/SCI with Polygraph. We are not able to sponsor the clearance requirement., * In-depth experience transitioning systems to new architectures.

  • Experience with model-based systems engineering.

  • Experience with risk management/risk register.

  • Experience with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology or as a member of an Agile team.

  • Experience working as an admin on Windows Server and Linux Server platforms.
