Job description
We are seeking a high-impact leader to guide a combined team of Agile Scrum Masters and Project Managers. This position is a hybrid of strategic leadership and hands-on execution; you will oversee the development of your direct reports while simultaneously acting as a dedicated Scrum Master or Project Lead for a high-priority initiative. Your primary goal is to champion best practices, mentor staff, and ensure the seamless delivery of high-quality technical solutions across the organization. Core Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Advocacy: Manage, coach, and elevate a team of six to eight Scrum Masters and Project Managers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Dual-Function Execution: Serve as an active practitioner by leading at least one Scrum team or managing a critical project, providing a model for excellence within the department.
- Operational Consistency: Standardize planning, tracking, and reporting across all teams to provide leadership and stakeholders with clear transparency regarding velocity, status, and predictability.
- Agile & Project Mentorship: Act as the primary subject matter expert for Agile methodologies and Project Management disciplines, guiding both your direct reports and organizational leadership.
- Delivery Oversight: Ensure Scrum Masters are removing blockers and helping teams meet sprint commitments, while verifying that Project Managers are driving key initiatives toward successful, timely outcomes.
- Framework Stewardship: Maintain a unified Scrum framework across the enterprise while respecting the autonomy and self-management of individual teams.
- Adaptive Management: Demonstrate the flexibility to pivot resources based on shifting organizational priorities and fill in for unassigned PM or Scrum roles as necessary.
Requirements
- Educational Background: Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS).
- Leadership Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in a direct people-management role.
- Technical Delivery Expertise: At least 4 years of dedicated experience in both Project Management and Scrum Master roles, specifically within software development or technology-focused environments.
- Tool Proficiency: Expert-level command of Jira, Confluence, and SharePoint.
- Methodological Mastery: A deep understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and proven success working with distributed technical teams.
- Communication & Influence: Exceptional facilitation skills with the ability to translate complex technical progress for non-technical stakeholders and internal teams.
- Change Management: Experience identifying and mitigating the impacts of organizational shifts on internal stakeholders.
Preferred Certifications
- Required: Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and Project Management Professional (PMP).
- Highly Desirable: PSM I, II, or III, or Certified Team Coach (CTC).
