Job description

The IT Lead - Application (ERP Team Lead, Functional FICO) position is responsible for ensuring continuity of operations for the City of Houston's mission-critical ERP solution, SAP, as well as integrated third-party software. This essential position is responsible for the supervision of the City's ERP-SAP Functional roles in the ERP team, e.g., Finance, AP/AR, MM etc. This role is responsible to ensure seamless operations of the City's core systems of record (SOR) for Finance, HR and other solutions. As such this role is responsible for the coordination of critical processes such as, but not limited to, FI, AP/AR, MM, Asset Accounting, GL etc. This role helps identify and implement successful, creative solutions to complex problems; this may include introducing new solutions in the finance area or simply taking an active role in functional spec reviews, future projects planning, and more., + Responsible for supporting the City of Houston with SAP FICO processes and configurations, e.g., SAP Finance and Controlling, Funds Management, Grants Management, Fixed Assets, Project Systems, Treasury, etc.

  • Provide supervision and guidance on ERP solutions in the form of mentorship to the City's functional ERP team, e.g., FICO, AP/AR, MM etc.
  • Understand complex finance functions in order to assist the business in the development and modernization of critical finance systems and processes, due to the roles requirement of being a finance SAP FICO subject matter expert (SME) requiring broad and deep ERP-SAP FICO experience.
  • Assist the business in automation, optimization, and innovation finance related processes using the City's SAP finance system and related third party applications.
  • Serve as an application expert and support users in their daily, month end and year end processes using SAP.
  • Responsible for supporting finance business users and controllership to clearly capture new requests for SAP finance code block, master data changes, etc.
  • Provide governance and oversight for critical finance interfaces, including IDOC and batch process monitoring and resolution.
  • Serving as a SME in one or more business areas, provide analytic support to all user departments of the SAP accounting services. Including develop ad-hoc custom reports and data extracts for management.
  • Experience creating detailed documentation, test scripts, and user training to support business processes and new development.
  • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to make timely and sound decisions based on logical assumptions and factual information.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use testing methodologies, processes and tools for testing of functionality, including unit, integration, system, regression and dry run testing.
  • Coordinate execution of project tasks in your functional area and be comfortable in working under the pressure of tight project deadlines.
  • Supporting the City's Fiscal Year End (FYE), as well as ensuring effective day-to-day operations and success of critical interfaces to banks, e.g., JPMorgan, etc.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management and Information Systems (MIS) or a closely related field. Information systems-specific technical certifications may be substituted for 1 year of either the education or the experience requirement, as applicable. Related professional Information Systems experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis EXPERIENCE At least six (6) years of technology experience supporting applications. A Master's degree in Computer Science, Management and Information Systems (MIS) or a closely related field may be substituted for two years of the experience requirement. LICENSE
