Machine Learning Engineer, Photos

The Photos Intelligence team in Camera & Photos develops privacy-respecting, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) technologies to ship features and emotional experiences to hundreds of millions of users worldwide. We are looking for an experienced Machine Learning Engineer to join our team in Cupertino and be a part of this mission.

In this role, you will be working on ideating, developing and evaluating privacy preserving machine learning, deep learning, and generative AI algorithms for Apple Intelligence features. Candidates should have a proven track record that demonstrates a deep understanding of AI ML technologies, agentic workflow evaluations, a passion for designing and developing high-quality software, strong collaboration, and excellent interpersonal skills., Strong machine learning and deep learning fundamentals

Hands on experience with large language models (LLMs), prompt optimization, and fine-tuning of LLMs

Hands on experience with automated evaluation frameworks for agentic workflows

Strong programming and software engineering experience in one or more of the following languages: Python, C, C++, Swift

Masters or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications

Extensive experience with evaluation data and frameworks

Experience with large vision-language and multi-modal foundation models

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $126,800 and $220,900, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
