Job description
GIS Field Technicians collect and validate utility and geographic location data using GPS-enabled equipment, contributing to accurate as-built records for newly installed gas and fiber infrastructure. They update design maps in ArcGIS and other platforms, incorporating photos, bore logs, and shape files while ensuring all data meets customer standards., * Collect utility location and geographic data using GPS-enabled equipment, including the Vivax vLoc3 RTK Pro

Collect utility location and geographic data using GPS-enabled equipment, including CARDO PAC equipment

Capture and record survey-grade field data for newly installed fiber conduits, natural gas piping and infrastructure

Update design maps in ArcGIS Pro and other platforms with bore logs, shape files, photos, and other as-built data

Cross-validate collected data to ensure accuracy and compliance with customer specifications

Create and submit detailed as-built documentation to support GIS mapping updates

Ability to operate and translate data for underground location using GPR equipment.

Follow all safety procedures, laws, and company policies while working in the field

Work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain

Perform additional tasks and duties as assigned to support field data collection and GIS operations

Requirements
-
1+ years of experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), utility locating, or Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) operations
-
Strong computer skills, including file management and data entry

Excellent organizational and analytical skills

Knowledge of GPS equipment, utility locating devices, or field surveying tools
-
Comfortable working outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions
-
The physical activity required for this role includes:

Frequent travel

exposure to weather, including heat, cold, rain, and other weather conditions

Walking on uneven or varied terrain

Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, and carrying lightweight equipment

Manual dexterity to operate GPS devices, tablets, and mapping tools

Occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds
