Job description

You will operate at the intersection of architecture and execution, driving both the strategic design of integration patterns and the hands-on development of reliable, scalable solutions. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in middleware and API integration, a strong understanding of logistics and supply chain data flows, and the discipline to build for long-term maintainability \u2014 not just immediate delivery. \r\r \r

Key Responsibilities \r \r\r

Integration Design & Development \r\r \r

  • Architect and develop end-to-end integration solutions using an enterprise integration platform \u2014 our current stack includes MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, but equivalent experience with Apache Camel, Spring Integration, WSO2, or Red Hat Fuse is fully applicable\r
  • Build and manage event-driven messaging workflows using RabbitMQ, Kafka, or ActiveMQ for asynchronous, decoupled communication\r
  • Design and implement RESTful and SOAP APIs, ensuring consistency, versioning, and security across all integration surfaces\r
  • Configure and manage an API gateway platform (Kong, Apache APISIX, AWS API Gateway, or equivalent) for API lifecycle management, traffic control, rate limiting, and authentication\r
  • Collaborate with the dedicated EDI team on carrier and trading partner integrations, providing integration platform support and connectivity where EDI intersects with broader middleware flows\r

\r\r

Platform & Standards Stewardship \r\r \r

  • Define and enforce integration standards, reusable component libraries, and development best practices across the platform\r
  • Contribute to the API-first design strategy and support the evolution of the enterprise integration layer as the central hub connecting TMS, audit, rating, and parcel platforms\r
  • Collaborate with product, architecture, and business stakeholders to translate complex logistics requirements into clean integration designs\r
  • Participate in architecture reviews and provide technical guidance to mid-level developers\r

\r\r

Operations & Reliability \r\r \r

  • Monitor integration performance and SLAs; proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks, failures, and data quality issues\r
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation including data mappings, flow diagrams, sequence diagrams, and API specifications\r
  • Support on-call rotation or escalation coverage for critical integration failures affecting carrier or customer operations\r

\r\r \r

Requirements

r \r\r \r

  • 5+ years of hands-on integration development experience in an enterprise environment\r
  • Deep proficiency with at least one enterprise integration platform \u2014 MuleSoft Anypoint, Apache Camel, Spring Integration, WSO2, or Red Hat Fuse; ability to apply EAI/EIP patterns regardless of tooling\r
  • Strong Java and/or Spring Boot development background with applied knowledge of integration design patterns (pub/sub, request-reply, routing, transformation)\r
  • Hands-on experience with a message broker \u2014 RabbitMQ, Apache Kafka, ActiveMQ, or equivalent\r
  • Working knowledge of an API gateway platform \u2014 Kong, Apache APISIX, AWS API Gateway, Azure APIM, or comparable\r
  • Proficiency with integration protocols and formats: REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, AS2, SFTP\r
  • Experience integrating with logistics carriers or customers \u2014 TMS, WMS, freight billing, or parcel systems a strong plus\r
  • Ability to read and produce technical integration artifacts (data maps, sequence diagrams, API contracts)\r

\r\r \r

Preferred Qualifications \r \r\r \r

  • MuleSoft Certified Developer (Level 1 or 2), or equivalent certification in a comparable platform (WSO2, Red Hat)\r
  • Working knowledge of EDI standards (X12, EDIFACT) and trading partner transaction workflows (850, 856, 810, 214, etc.)\r
  • Experience working in freight, parcel, LTL, or supply chain logistics environments\r
  • Exposure to enterprise data platforms, MDM concepts, or API-first architecture programs\r
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices: CI/CD pipelines, Git-based workflows, Docker/containerization\r
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tooling (Splunk, Datadog, ELK stack, or similar)\r
  • Background in API security patterns: OAuth 2.0, mTLS, API key management, JWT\r
  • Familiarity with freight audit or transportation management systems, including understanding of invoice, rating, and shipment data flows\r

\r\r 12+ Years of Experience
