Job description

We are seeking an experienced Sr. Network Operations Engineer to join our team onsite in San Jose, CA. This role is critical to delivering Network Resiliency Uplift initiatives, executing complex network changes, and maintaining enterprise-grade infrastructure at a designated customer site. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in routing, switching, security, and wireless technologies, and is comfortable operating in high-stakes, change-controlled environments., * Provide delivery governance for the Phase-1 Network Resiliency engagement.

  • Execute approved network changes and remediation activities at the designated customer site.
  • Perform network configuration validation, optimization, cleanup, and restructuring in accordance with approved designs and implementation plans.
  • Implement ISP failover, firewall, VPN, routing, wireless, NAC, OOB, and monitoring-related changes per defined scope.
  • Execute planned changes during approved maintenance windows, including weekends or after-hours periods as required.
  • Conduct failover and resiliency testing activities and document test outcomes.
  • Support local coordination for site access, cabling, rack-and-stack readiness, and other onsite dependencies.
  • Maintain and share detailed execution records, including configuration changes and rollback procedures.
  • Execute prioritized resiliency improvements utilizing available Time & Materials (T&M) bandwidth.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience installing and building network infrastructure.
  • In-depth knowledge of network hardware and software technologies and best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of Routing and Switching design; R&S and/or DC CCNA required, CCNP preferred.
  • Proficiency with PAN firewalls architecture, ACLs, policies, NATs, IPSEC VPNs, and Global Protect VPNs.
  • Experience with SolarWinds IT infrastructure monitoring and provisioning.
  • LAN switching expertise including VLAN, VTP, and STP.
  • Solid understanding of routing protocols: ISIS, OSPF, and BGP.
  • Practical experience with Cisco SDA, ISE, and VXLAN technologies.
  • Working knowledge of Wireless networks including WLC 9800, 3500 Access Points, and 9120.
  • Solid knowledge of Cisco Catalyst 9000 series, Palo Alto firewalls, Nexus 93k series, APC UPS, and OOB networks.
  • Test and validation experience with network hardware or software/OS.
  • Broad knowledge across: IP Routing & Switching, OSPF, BGP, WAN, IPSEC, PAN Firewall, Packet Analysis, DNAC, Cisco ISE, and infrastructure tooling.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills for identifying and resolving complex networking issues.
  • Strong understanding of DNS operations; experience deploying and managing internal and external DNS environments.
  • Experience managing diverse Load Balancer solutions.
  • Experience with cloud networking and cloud connectivity.
