Job description
The AI Platform Owner is the technical leader for the organization's AI transformation, bridging business strategy and technology execution.?This role is responsible for defining, building, and operating the enterprise AI platform to enable secure, scalable, production-ready AI across the organization.?The AI Platform Owner owns the platform vision and roadmap, sets governance standards across model lifecycles, data quality, and responsible AI, and drives cross-functional alignment to deliver AI capabilities at scale.
Role Responsibilities:
- Own the technical pillar of the enterprise AI transformation, translating transformation priorities into platform vision and multi-year roadmap?
- Oversee the design, build, and continuous improvement of AI/ML infrastructure, agents, tooling, operations, deployment, and monitoring capabilities?
- Establish and enforce governance frameworks covering model lifecycles, data quality standards, responsible AI practices, security controls, and compliance requirements?
- Drive cross-functional alignment between AI product teams, data engineering, IT/OT, and business stakeholders to ensure cohesive delivery of AI initiatives?
- Co-lead vendor evaluation and build-vs-buy decisions alongside key stakeholders to ensure scalable, future-ready platform capabilities?
- Operationalize FinOps best practices and platform usage governance to optimize spending and demonstrate return on AI investment?
- Build and lead a high-performing AI platform team, driving technical excellence and operational reliability.
- Champion organization-wide AI enablement by promoting adoption, building literacy, and accelerating the path from experimentation to production
Requirements
- Master's or PhD degree in computer science, data science, STEM, or related field required.
- Minimmum 10 years of experience in platform leadership, cloud architecture, data engineering, or related technology roles, including at least 7 years in AI/ML engineering or data platforms, with a proven track record of delivering production-grade AI solutions and operating at senior or cross-functional scope
- Proven ability to set technical direction for large-scale AI or data platform initiatives within complex enterprise environments?
- Proven experience with running enterprise level AI solutions at scale?
- Strong architectural and systems thinking with the ability to consolidate data, infrastructure, and application layers?
- Familiarity with governance, compliance, and responsible AI frameworks, with the ability to partner with subject matter experts to operationalize them?
- Experience contributing to vendor evaluations, technology selection, or build-vs-buy analyses for enterprise platforms or large-scale technology initiatives?
- Demonstrated skill in translating business objectives and AI product needs into platform capabilities and technical roadmaps
- Executive-level communication skills with the ability to align technical strategy to senior leadership priorities
- This position is an office-based role with some travel and visits to other RWE Americas office and field locations
- Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time

Benefits & conditions
Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in Illinois is $275,000 - $360,000 . The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
