Job description
We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer with a strong background in Mainframe and server development environments to design, implement, and grow our CI/CD pipelines. The ideal candidate will mentor and lead a team of junior CI/CD engineers in the establishment of a CICD Center of Excellence responsible for the transition of a legacy Release Management practice towards a state-of-the-art Release Management practice. This role will also be a key contributor in the establishment of a best of breed application containerization service. This role is with our Horizon team., * Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for a Mainframe (Cobol, RPG, CL, JCL) dominated DevOps practice with a growing number of server-based (Java, .NET) DevOps initiatives.
- Integrate mainframe and server development workflows with modern DevOps toolchains (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, etc.).
- Consolidate and standardize multiple source control and release management workflow practices across existing development landscape including but not limited to Rocket Aldon, Bitbucket, Jenkins, GitHub, CXOne, Checkmarx, Artifactory, ServiceNow, and proprietary scripting.
- Identify and implement automated end to end release management workflows.
- Ensure security, compliance, and auditability in automated build and release processes.
- Monitor and optimize pipeline performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Provide mentorship and leadership to junior CICD engineers during the transformation of existing legacy DevOps practices towards modern Software Development Life Cycle. Trains and Tracks skill development and completion of responsibilities assigned to Junior DevOps engineers.
- Developing or executing project plans, schedules, problem solving and reporting on both progress and constraints towards projective objectives.
- Completes documentation related to CICD solution design, Steady State WLI, and support requirements.
- Experienced identifying and implementation automation and integration scripting using Jenkins, GitHub suite, Bitbucket, NUnit, Watir, Checkmarx, ServiceNow, Jira, and Azure DevOps Technologies and services.
- Optimization & Governance: Drive continuous improvement, establish standards, implement monitoring/alerting (Splunk, Dynatrace), and manage security & compliance.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in DevOps engineering, including CI/CD pipeline development and automation.
- 2+ years working directly with Mainframe systems (IBM iSeries, z/OS, AS/400, etc.).
- Experience identifying and implementation automation and integration scripting using Jenkins, GitHub suite, Bitbucket, NUnit, Watir, Checkmarx, ServiceNow, Jira, and Azure DevOps Technologies and services.
- Experience integrating modern version control (e.g., Git) with mainframe SCM tools (IBM Endeavor, ISPW, Rational Developer for i/z, etc.).
- Experience performing responsibilities of a Project and Program Manager.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Added bonus if you have:
- Experience with IBM UrbanCode Deploy, z/OSMF, or Rocket Aldon.
- Experience implementing automated testing on APM, Mainframe, and Server platforms.
- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies orchestrated on Jira and working within CI/CD-driven teams.
- Automation & Tooling: Develop automation scripts (Python, Bash, PowerShell), use Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible), and manage containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience identifying and implementation automation and integration scripting using Jenkins, GitHub suite, Bitbucket, NUnit, Watir, Checkmarx, ServiceNow, Jira, and Azure DevOps Technologies and services.
- Preferred Tooling Experience: Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub, Splunk, Dynatrace, Bit bucket, Jira.

NOTE: This position is hybrid (3 days onsite) at our FIS Office locations in Jacksonville (FL), New York City (NY) & Milwaukee (WI).
FIS is committed to providing its employees with an exciting career opportunity and competitive compensation. The pay range for this full-time position is $119,560.00 - $200,840.00 and reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position based on the posted role, level, and location. Within the range, actual individual starting pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
