Job description

The Software Engineer II (Marketing Technology) contributes to the creation of high-quality, innovative, and fully functional software solutions that adhere to coding standards and technical design. This role will contribute to the research, design, development and implementation of new software solutions in addition to enhancing existing software capabilities. This role will also collaborate with other Squad members, stakeholders and the Product team to ensure that products meet business, functional, and technical requirements and are scalable in nature. This will include translating business and technical requirements into well engineered, tested, and deployed technology solutions by gathering user requirements, defining system functionality, and writing code in various languages. The Software Engineer II has the ability to take on smaller projects from start to finish, work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors and trace issues to their source. The Software Engineer II develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.

This role drives digital marketing innovation by designing, developing, and implementing advanced solutions within our Marketing and Ad Technology ecosystem, focusing on our data warehouse, data syncing pipelines to marketing and advertising platforms, and our customer data platform (CDP). This role exists to bridge the gap between marketing data strategy and technical capabilities, ensuring our grocery retail operations have robust, scalable data infrastructure that powers customer engagement and drives business growth. The person will design and maintain reliable data pipelines, manage integrations between our data warehouse and marketing/ad platforms, enhance and evolve our CDP, reduce technical debt across data systems, and maintain operational excellence in our mission-critical marketing data infrastructure., &bull Develop the technical design for solutions based on the defined scope, requirements, and functional design provided by the Product team and other stakeholders. &bull Build and configure technical components (interfaces, conversions, reports, workflows) so that solution design meets business needs and solution architecture standards. &bull Write and document programming code to meet the gathered requirements. &bull Deliver solutions through SaaS solutions (e.g. Hightouch, Segment, Data Bricks, Snowflake, etc) &bull Perform code reviews and quality assurance to ensure compliance to technical standards and business requirements. &bull Collaborate with Squad to support the Product team to create and refine user stories and acceptance criteria. &bull Prepare development and test environments, conduct test readiness to proceed with testing, and collaborate with to execute testing. &bull Fix bugs identified during quality assurance and testing. &bull Continuously reduce technical debt (e.g., create technical debt stories, remove bugs) and decommission legacy applications and solutions. &bull Perform updates and enhancements to the solution, as needed. &bull Release software into production and perform release testing (system integration, mock conversion, parallel, regression, performance and stress, infrastructure). &bull Participates in initiatives for improving way of working in teams and in eliminating technical debt &bull Develops solutions to moderately complex technical issues and problems that impact multiple areas or disciplines. &bull Communicates with internal team members across multiple areas and client team members. &bull Works to influence project/team leaders regarding solution design, process and/or approaches. &bull Delivers high quality work in cross-functional team environments - at times taking on additional technical assessments and responsibilities &bull Contributes and at times leads positive and collaborative solution brainstorming and delivery &bull Has strong self-led work drive and accountability as well as a growing ability to lead team assessments and discussions to achieve assignments (agile, or bimodal). &bull Ensure operational stability of a 24/7/365 grocery retail environment by providing technical support, system monitoring, and issue resolution which may be required during off-hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Requirements

&bull Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Technical field equivalent trainings/certifications/experience equivalency will be considered &bull 3 or more years of equivalent experience in relevant job or field of technology &bull Proven work experience as a Software Engineer or Software Developer &bull Experience designing interactive applications &bull Ability to develop software in JavaScript, Python, or other programming languages &bull Excellent knowledge of relational databases, SQL and ORM technologies (MSSQL, PostgreSQL, etc) &bull Experience developing web applications using at least one popular web framework (e.g. Angular, React, Django, Express) &bull Experience with test-driven development &bull Ability to document requirements and specifications &bull Knowledge of algorithms and data structures &bull Proficiency in troubleshooting software issues and debugging a large codebase &bull Skills: Programming, Testing, Analytical Thinking, Agile Development, Problem Solving, Cybersecurity Risk Management, Data Privacy, Application Security, Technical Troubleshooting, &bull Masters Degree in relevant field of study preferred, Additional trainings or certifications in relevant field of study preferred &bull Experience in Agile teams and or Product/Platform based operating model. &bull Hands-on experience with cloud data warehouse platforms (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Databricks). &bull Familiarity with customer data platforms (e.g., Hightouch, Segment, Adobe Real-Time CDP, or Salesforce CDP). &bull Experience integrating data with marketing and ad platforms (e.g., Google Ads, Meta Ads, LiveRamp, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Salesforce Sales Cloud, Braze). &bull Experience with audience segmentation, identity resolution, or data enrichment techniques in a marketing context. &bull Knowledge of data governance, privacy regulations (e.g., CCPA, GDPR), and consent management as they apply to marketing data. &bull Familiarity with data modeling, schema design, and data quality monitoring/observability tools &bull Experience in retail or grocery preferred.
