Job description
- Analyze user and business requirements for Claims domain and translate them into technical specifications and design documents that support our claims processing workflows, ensuring high-performance, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
- Design, develop, test, and debug mainframe applications, often involving COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM and CICS. Mentor and guide junior developers in coding practices and systems design.
- Liaise with project managers and business analysts to gather requirements and provide technical solutions.
- Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices and quality standards.
- Optimize existing mainframe applications for performance and scalability.

Requirements
- Minimum of 8+ years of experience in mainframe development, Mainframe COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM and CICS.
- Proficiency in working with IBM mainframe tools for development, debugging, and system management, such as z/OS, ISPF, TSO, File-aid and SCM is required.
- Experience in healthcare claims and their associated systems is crucial for understanding the complex claims processing workflow.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities with a detail-oriented mindset.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and software development life cycles.
Benefits & conditions
The annual salary for this position is between $ 65447 to $ 117000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
