Job description

Under the general direction of the Information Technology Manager I, the Information Technology Supervisor II (IT Sup II) leads and manages staff within the Office of the Information Security Officer's (OISO) Security Solutions Engineering (SSE) Unit. The SSE Unit performs the Department's most complex information security functions in support of CDCR's compliance with federal and state regulations, including NIST requirements, HIPAA Security Rules, and the State Administrative Manual (SAM) Information Security standards. The mission of the OISO is to safeguard the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information within the CDCR by providing proactive security expertise; creating and maintaining a resilient and secure infrastructure; and fostering a culture of security awareness and compliance throughout the organization. In support of this mission, the IT Sup II provides strategic and technical leadership in the engineering, implementation, and oversight of enterprise security solutions that protect CDCR's information assets and ensure secure, reliable operations. The role promotes industry best practices, guides technical integration efforts, and ensures the secure design and operation of systems across the enterprise.

Requirements

Individuals who are currently in the classification, eligible for lateral transfer, eligible for reinstatement, have list or LEAP eligibility, are in the process of obtaining list eligibility, or have SROA and/or Surplus eligibility (please attach your letter, if available). SROA and Surplus candidates are given priority; therefore, individuals with other eligibility may be considered in the event no SROA or Surplus candidates apply.   • Demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills to deal effectively with difficult, sensitive, and confidential matters.
  • Experience providing excellent customer service in IT.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including IT documentation and policy writing.
  • Strong analytical/problem-solving and research skills.
  • Working Knowledge and experience with:
  • Microsoft Operating System environment and Office 365
  • Configuring, managing, and troubleshooting various hardware, software, and mobile devices
  • Enterprise client/server network environment including wireless technology
  • Virtual Private Network and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure
  • ServiceNow or other IT service management and ticketing tool
