Job description

  • Synthesize system and test requirements into verification requirements, test objectives, success criteria, and required resources for system level tests and demonstrations.
  • Support the development of test requirements and detailed integration test plans, test procedures, test readiness reviews (TRRs), test data and test reports.
  • Design, develop, and implement testing methods and equipment.
  • Interface with software developers and systems engineers in support of integration and test activities.
  • Review test plans, procedures, and reports; witness testing as the Cognizant Engineer.
  • Execution of qualification and acceptance testing per those requirements, plans and procedures.
  • Execute the integration, test, and assembly of the Air Vehicle in preparation for developmental flight testing.
  • Integrate hardware from sub-system teams.
  • Participate in internal and customer test planning working groups.
  • Support program reviews and customer delivery (CDRL) development
  • Compile data and define changes required in test equipment, test procedures, or new test requirements.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, testing houses, development engineers and other stakeholders involved in the testing process.
  • Participate in technical exchange meetings, interfacing with customers (internal/external) and contributing to a broad range of program deliverables.
  • Execute tests, manage and prioritize problems/failures.
  • Review and evaluate test results and provide summary reports.
  • Work with cross functional, multi-discipline test and element, system, and segment-level teams.
  • Identify configurations to support test and prototypes of developing systems.
  • Perform data analysis of input, internal, and output message data.
  • Document test results and prepare test status documentation.
  • Create Test Discrepancy Reports to document issues.
  • Develop troubleshooting procedures and work-around documents.
  • Maintain test equipment documentation and follow configuration management requirements.
  • Participate in test facility stand-up activities, including operations and process development.

Requirements

This requisition may be filled at either the Principal Systems Test Engineer level (T-03) or Sr. Principal Systems Test Engineer level (T-04).

  • Principal Systems Test Engineer: Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience, or 3 years of experience with a Master's degree; 4 additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Sr. Principal Systems Test Engineer: Bachelor's degree and 8 years of related experience, 6 years of experience with a Master's degree; 4 years with a PhD; 4 additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Required for Both Levels:

  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
  • Experience in a Developmental Testing Program in air, space or rocket programs
  • Experience manufacturing, building, testing, or troubleshooting hardware via professional work experience and/or project
  • Experience defining test objectives based on test requirements, VCRM and interface and specification documentation
  • Experience with data collection/instrumentation (methods, setup, checkout, and troubleshooting)
  • Experience in troubleshooting anomalous hardware and software
  • Experience with development of test plans, procedures, and reports (functional testing and checkout), * US Citizenship with an Active Top-Secret Clearance or higher (awarded within the past 6 years) with the ability to receive a Special Access Program (SAP) certification
  • Knowledge and experience using CAMEO and/or Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Principles
  • Experience using DOORS Requirements Management Database
  • Experience with developing production processes, factory optimization, or manufacturing and machining methods
  • Experience with instrumentation, data acquisition, and data review
  • Hands-on experience trouble-shooting, building and testing hardware
  • ICBM Experience
  • Flight Test Instrumentation design/development experience
  • Electrical component test development/test set development experience
  • Experience coordinating and leading integrated testing activities with multiple test teams
  • Knowledge of system integration and test principles and test plan development at any level of build (unit, sub-system, system, etc.)
  • Experience in system integration and test principles and processes including developing test plans and procedures

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Primary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $129,300.00 - $193,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
