Job description
As our Director, Enterprise Resilience, you will direct efforts to help our organization anticipate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from disruptions that could affect patient care, operations, and the safety of staff and the community.
Every day you will lead delivery of a multi-year, enterprise-wide resilience strategy, oversee complex and strategic resilience projects and programs, manage global risk and intelligence, ensure clear communication and stakeholder engagement, and manage a team of resilience professionals. This role requires 24/7 on-call availability to support our crisis response and business continuity.
To be successful in this role, you will be a strategic thinker with deep expertise in enterprise resilience disciplines such as business continuity, crisis management, IT resilience, and program management. You will be able to translate complex concepts for executive audiences, drive measurable results in a healthcare environment, and inspire and develop a high-performing team.
- Strategic Program Delivery: Drives the delivery of an enterprise-wide resilience strategy, providing management and oversight for its implementation. Leads enterprise programs and strategic initiatives to ensure they support organizational priorities-particularly patient safety, continuity of care, and regulatory compliance. Leads the implementation of a comprehensive resilience strategy that aligns with CommonSpirit's risk appetite, business objectives, and regulatory requirements, and works closely with leaders across the enterprise to integrate resilience into decision-making and everyday operations.
- Program Management: Directs strategic programs and projects portfolio within Enterprise Resilience and manages an effective governance and operating model that enables CommonSpirit to avoid, resist, absorb, recover, and adapt to disruptions. This ensures the organization can meet strategic objectives, rebound, and thrive in a complex, changing environment. Responsibilities include directing project scope and timelines, allocating resources, identifying and mitigating healthcare-specific risks (e.g., supply chain, cyber, natural disasters), and upholding strong project governance.
- Policy and Governance: Directs and manages enterprise resilience policies and governance that integrate resilience domains-national emergency management, business continuity, crisis management, data privacy, cyber resilience, IT disaster recovery, and supply chain resilience-into a unified, comprehensive program design, delivery, and maturity framework. Provide leadership to cross-functional teams: set priorities, remove barriers, and oversee the integration of governance to ensure consistent, enterprise-wide resilience capabilities and continuous improvement.
- Risk and Compliance: Collaborates with the Head of Enterprise Resilience, Chief Risk Officer, and Chief Compliance Officer to direct resilience efforts within CommonSpirit's risk appetite and meet regulatory expectations. Lead resilience risk and compliance programs, regulatory exams, and third-party assessments related to resilience.
- Crisis Response: Serves as Crisis Advisor during high-severity incidents-provides leadership support, coordinates response activities, enables timely decision-making, and collaborates across the organization to minimize impact and restore operations.
