Job description

  • Lead and manage a team of Network Engineers to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of Program Networks, equipment, and services within their assigned section. Oversee team functionality access and readiness to perform essential job duties.
  • Supervise and mentor junior team members under the direction of the senior section manager.
  • Performing leadership and managerial duties for team members, including but not limited to, Performance and development assessments, Career planning, Resource management, Timecard approval, Personal-Time-Off (PTO) approval and management, Talent interviewing and hiring
  • Supervising engineers with standard documentation and processes in designing, configuring, and installing network equipment. In addition, general guidance will be required on maintaining network equipment in a Risk Management Framework to provide security compliance for the network environment with regular security updates.
  • Provide advanced knowledge in support of (software/firmware/hardware) LAN/WAN components including routers, switches, firewalls (CISCO/Palo Alto).
  • Monitor, analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize network system performance, proactively identifying and quickly resolving service impacting issues.
  • Review system vulnerability assessments to ensure compliance with recognized industry standards and best practices. Developing and monitoring policies, standards, processes, and goals for direct reports
  • Drive and/or participate in projects in support of installation and/or improvement to voice, video, and network infrastructure.
  • Produce, update, and generally improve technical documentation to support security requirements and operational support of systems.
  • Propose to management and configure network solutions, meeting all communications requirements based on future needs, current usage, cost savings, and availability.
  • Provide regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for network infrastructure.
  • Coordinating network engineer support for training development/evaluations and operations and sustainment plans
  • Participating in Change Request reviews, to include participating in Change Management boards at multiple program levels
  • Assist in the overall performance and capability of technical teams through mentoring, training, and knowledge sharing.
  • Willingness and availability to travel to local and other U.S domestic sites up to 20% of time.
  • Must be able to work with general supervision and follow established procedures.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years' experience
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued US Secret DOD security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Experience in leading teams in Information Technology, Network Engineering, or other types of technology environments.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Advanced knowledge of configuration and troubleshooting of routers, switches, firewalls, and authentication servers.
  • Experience with platforms such as Cisco ISE, Cisco Call Manager, NTP servers, General Dynamics GEM One, and SolarWinds.
  • Experience configuring, updating, and troubleshooting encryption devices and intrusion detection systems.
  • Experience with handling and working with classified information
  • Experience with classified computing, NIST and other Security doctrine, STIG compliance, and network refreshes.
  • Demonstrated basic business fundamentals
  • Experience in Project Management
  • Organizational skills to include attention to detail, time management and ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Experience with project management, team leadership, and personnel development.
  • Ability to solve complex problems with limited supervision.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office technologies including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio.
  • Certifications in Security+ within 6 months
  • Working knowledge of network security and infrastructure best practices.
  • Effective customer service skills, including oral and written communication.

Benefits & conditions

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
