Job description

The Digital Systems Specialist (DSS) provides on-site IS support for plant operations, serving as the first point of contact for system-related issues. This role partners closely with plant teams and acts as a liaison to Corporate IS and helpdesk functions to ensure reliable, effective technology support. The DSS supports plant-level implementation of corporate IS projects, assists departments with computer-based solutions to business needs, and maintains overall accountability for IS support across shifts, delegating tasks as needed., * IT Systems: Provide on-site monitoring and support for IT infrastructure. Work with corporate IT and plant staff to help implement corporate-driven hardware, software, and network projects. Facilitate communications to plant staff about IS projects. Help facilitate windows desktop/laptop installation and maintenance.

  • OT systems: Support automation/controls software and licenses required on technician PCs. Support plant OT infrastructure including virtual machines, networking, thin clients, system backups, imaging, and hardware troubleshooting.
  • End User Support: Respond to plant user support needs related to PC software and hardware, printers, and plant applications such as PI (data historian), MES systems, EMS systems, barcode systems, and timeclocks. Facilitate user access requests, user training, and manage user accounts as required. Work with corporate IT Help Desk.
  • Disaster Recovery: Ensure data backup program(s) are properly administrated per Company policy. Function as the "Plant Owner" of local computer rooms and data closets to help ensure security, fire protection, and utility supplies are well maintained.

Requirements

  • Proficient understanding of PCs and printers
  • Proficient understanding of Windows operating systems (PC and server)
  • Understanding of virtual environments (virtual machines, VLANs, thin clients, etc)
  • Understanding of network communications
  • Understanding of network security and firewall configurations
  • Some knowledge of program languages and database concepts
  • Some knowledge of web design

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in IT/OT support
