Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Senior Data Governance Specialist to join our team in the greater DMV area, supporting the Army National Guard. Responsibilities

  • Establish and govern enterprise data governance frameworks for data quality, metadata management, stewardship, classification, and lifecycle oversight aligned with Army policy, RMF, and privacy requirements.
  • Review and adjudicate data definitions, lineage models, schema standards, and reference data to ensure consistency, traceability, and interoperability across domains.
  • Advise senior leadership on data integrity risk, compliance posture, governance maturity, and translate metrics/insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Coordinate cross-functional resolution of systemic data quality issues with data stewards, system owners, architects, and analytics teams to align business rules and standards.
  • Oversee governance workflows, reporting structures, evidence management, and audit readiness for RMF/privacy/compliance activities.
  • Drive selection, deployment, and improvement of governance tools, catalogs, dashboards, and automation to strengthen data reliability, availability, and decision support.
  • Produce governance artifacts: policies, standards, operating procedures, data roadmaps, and executive briefings to support portfolio decisions.
  • Mentor governance staff, define stewardship roles, and institutionalize metrics/KPIs for continuous improvement.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Metadata?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD

  • Clearance: Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Candidate must meet ONE of the following:
  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field; OR
  • Relevant DoD/military training (example: Enterprise Architect (Advanced) Playlist); OR
  • Relevant professional certification or equivalent experience (examples: CISSO, CISSP-ISSAP, CISSP-ISSEP, GCIA, GCLD, GCSA, GICSP).
  • Required experience and skills:
  • Data governance, enterprise data architecture, or related experience with at least 3 years in senior governance or technical authority roles.
  • Proven expertise in metadata management, data quality frameworks, master data management, data lineage, and governance tooling.
  • Strong knowledge of RMF/ATO impacts on data, privacy/data protection requirements, DoDAF/architecture alignment, and audit/evidence practices.
  • Ability to produce decision-grade governance artifacts, roadmaps, ROMs/COAs, and executive briefings; strong stakeholder facilitation skills.
  • Experience integrating governance with analytics, SOC/CIRT, and operational workflows for evidentiary and compliance support.
  • Desired:
  • Expert certifications (preferred): CASP+, AWS Professional, or equivalent cloud/data professional credentials.
  • Prior DoD/ARNG enterprise data governance or architecture experience and familiarity with Army data domains (Force Management, PPBE, GFM DI).
  • Experience implementing automation for metadata harvesting, data quality testing, and governance workflow orchestration.

  • Dental insurance, Target Salary Range: $104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
