Job description
- Summary: Under the direction of the Health Information Management (HIM) Director and Supervisor, the Release of Information Specialist is responsible for processing requests for patient health information while ensuring strict compliance with privacy regulations and organizational policies. This role supports continuity of care, legal processes, and patient access by accurately retrieving, reviewing and disclosing health information within designated regulatory time frames. Key responsibilities include receiving and validating authorizations and releasing information in accordance with applicable state and federal laws and hospital policies.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of HIM experience, previous Release of Information experience preferred
- License/Certification: Preferred RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician)
- Education: Preferred: Associates - Health Information Management or related field
- Other: Ability to perform in fast-paced environment with attention to detail and excellent customer service skills. Candidate must be able to navigate electronic health record and computer systems effectively. Cerner Oracle knowledge preferred
