Job description

About the Job: As a GIS Analyst II with the City of Colorado Springs, you will play a key role in supporting the Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services (PRCS) Department by performing a range of technical and analytical duties. Your responsibilities will include preparing, analyzing, and mapping diverse GIS datasets, as well as maintaining and updating geographic databases. You will also work independently to create detailed maps, design reports, and perform data analysis to meet the needs of internal and external stakeholders, providing valuable support to management and supervisory staff., * Research and respond to inquiries from City staff, the public, boards, and outside agencies regarding PRCS data

  • Employ methods and analysis to find and fill gaps in existing authoritative geodata bases
  • Create accessible ArcGIS Online (AGOL) content, services, and publishing
  • Perform a thorough review and analysis of authoritative data set in Arc Pro to truth existing data
  • Utilize methods to display information through GIS Story Maps or Power Bl
  • Maintain and debug existing ArcGIS Online (AGOL) content in Field Maps, Survey 123, and Quick Capture
  • Perform linear and georeferencing using engineering construction plans
  • Create clean and accurate maps, both print and digitally, for public presentations
  • Act as the department liaison to the IT department for data governance and licensing requirements
  • Maintain awareness of related new developments; incorporate new developments into programs
  • Provide guidance and recommendations regarding permission structure for linked assets
  • Provide input to leadership as the department's SME for our geo database
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of standard operating procedures regarding department data
  • Provide technical support to staff and remain current on best practices in spatial data management
  • Investigate and document problems; produce return on investment examples; perform quality assurance/quality control procedures on delivered data and relevant data sources
  • Perform computations or complex analysis using statistical, engineering, or mapping methods
  • Prepare charts, graphs, technical reports in OpenGov Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) or ESRI suite

  • Modern office procedures and equipment.

  • Principles and procedures of construction, inspection, and record-keeping

  • Principles and practices of construction and inspection
  • Methods and techniques of field investigation and inspection

Ability to:

  • Create reports in OpenGov Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) through web design tools

  • Work independently with limited technical support provided

  • Research land ownership and easement records

  • Understand land acquisition principles, plans, and plats

  • Apply and explain pertinent City policies and procedures

  • Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a related area of study.
  • Three years of full-time, professional experience performing GIS processing and analysis using ArcGIS., The following qualifications are not required, but they are considered desirable.   • Possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid, non-probationary driver's license not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges

  • Experience in Infrastructure, Trail, and Land Asset Management
