Job description
We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design and build the core infrastructure powering the Kaylus ecosystem. This role will focus on backend architecture, data systems, and fraud-resistant transaction processing built on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
You will work directly with the CTO and mobile/web engineers to build scalable infrastructure supporting offer redemption, campaign targeting, fraud scoring, and financial reconciliation.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Infrastructure
Design and build backend systems powering the Kaylus consumer rewards platform, including:
· Receipt ingestion and processing pipelines
· Offer redemption and validation workflows
· Fraud detection and anomaly scoring systems
· Consumer activity and event ledgers
· Campaign and offer rule engines
Architect scalable cloud infrastructure using GCP services such as BigQuery, Firestore, Cloud Run, and Pub/Sub.
Data Systems
Develop and optimize high-performance data pipelines supporting:
· Consumer activity tracking
· Offer targeting
· Campaign analytics
· Redemption validation
Design database schemas and event models supporting both real-time operations and downstream analytics.
Fraud and Trust Infrastructure
Work with the engineering team to implement systems that detect and prevent fraud, including:
· Receipt validation pipelines
· Anomaly detection signals
· Trust scoring models
· Behavioral fraud indicators
Collaboration
Collaborate closely with
Requirements
Do you have experience in Teamwork?, 5+ years backend engineering experience building scalable systems.
Strong experience with:
· Python, Node, or Go
· SQL and NoSQL databases
· Distributed systems or event-driven architecture
· API development and backend services
Experience with cloud platforms (GCP preferred) including services such as:
· BigQuery
· Firestore
· Pub/Sub
· Cloud Run
Strong ability to design systems from first principles. Comfort working in a startup environment with evolving requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience building:
· Fintech platforms
· Ad tech systems
· Loyalty or rewards platforms
· Fraud detection infrastructure
· Experience with machine learning pipelines or anomaly detection systems.

Pay: $120,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year, * 401(k)
