Job description
DDC is seeking a Cloud Engineer in support of USAF logistics systems. This team is responsible for the architecture, engineering and sustainment of its fiscal year objectives. This work resides in the Cloud One Digital Engineering environment. Cloud One is an existing global, interconnected, virtualized, hybrid, and IT infrastructure hosting mission systems, applications, services, and data. It serves the USAF and other government customers., The Cloud Engineer will be responsible for working with multiple small development teams to build out proof-of-concept approaches to Data Management, specifically focusing on developing capabilities to enhance the portfolio's Data Maturity, Data Quality, and Metadata Management initiatives. The environment resides within the AWS GovCloud. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Active DoD Security Clearance (Secret)
- Security+ or equivalent certification
- Experience managing JupyterHub implementations with Python, PySpark, integrating with AWS EMR (Hive, HBase)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar and 5+ years of experience
- Years of Experience: 8+
- In depth understanding of, and experience with, deployments of various systems to AWS utilizing both Cloud and non-native services
- Ability to prepare technical documentation (architectural diagrams, designs, etc.)
- Experience maintaining AWS EMR solutions
- Experience with ETL or data movement software such as NiFi, StreamSets, DataBricks, Jupyter Notebooks, etc.
- Experience implementing CI/CD solutions that can deploy developed code and notebooks between different operational environments (DEV/QA/PROD)
- Experience utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IAC) technologies to deploy and manage environments
- Implement containers utilizing Docker/Kubernetes in AWS
- Experience with AWS VPCs, subnets, route tables, IGW, VGW, and EC2
- Strong root cause analysis skills, investigation, diagnosis, and reporting
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and roles
- Excellent written and verbal communications
